Historic Win | From North to South, East to Hill Country

in Steem Sri Lanka11 days ago

Well, this is an expected result! The National People’s Power (NPP), under the leadership of Anura Kumara Dissanayake, secured more than 2/3 rd victory in the 2024 parliamentary election. Out of 225 seats, they won 159 including 18 national list seats, receiving 61.56% of the votes. This result opens a road for a New Political Era in Sri Lanka, destroying traditional Political families and Powerhouses.

On the 21st of September, 2024 AKD won the presidential election and set the first signal. I shared my ideas and how that affects the Sri Lankan Future with that result, Historical Day for Sri Lanka. Anyway AKD could do it with only 42% of votes, with a majority. Just within two months, they have earned the trust and people have given enormous power to them.

On the other hand, we have never seen this kind of attraction for a Southern-based party from the Noth, East, and Hill Country. But winning Jaffna, Vanni, Trincomalee, and even Nuwaraliya is a landmark achievement. When traditional parties have nowhere to hide, in the South, the Tamils, and Muslim people have done the same. We have been failing to address their needs and issues for decades, and the hope of the United country was slowly fading away. But now! This is just wow! Securing 21 districts from 22 gives a clear message.

Historically, NPP was in the third spot, and 2019, they secured only 3% of votes with just 03 votes. But the things we had to witness in the last couple of years turned everything upside down. This result shows the huge demand for a system change in Sri Lanka’s governance. The corrupted, thuggery political culture has to be ended, which happened with the majority of former MPs, losing their seats.

But as we say, "With great power comes great responsibility." NPP has a huge task ahead. They have to fulfill their promises. People are desperately waiting for that. On one hand, they have to continue to strengthen the Economy of the country. After what happened in 2022, there should be some relief within a few months. There will be short-term and long-term implementations for this.

And on the other hand, with the giant hug from North, East, and the Hill country that trust has to be maintained. We have struggled to address their real issues for decades, and now this is the golden opportunity to unite the nation. This will be a very sensitive mission, for sure.

So, people have answered. Now it's time for NPP to justify that trust. People will bear the difficulties, they will be patient, if they see something good is really happening. Now they have for a better country, so don't misuse the trust with the immense power. Recent History has taught not to mess with the people.

So, hearitest congratulations to NPP, and all the selected MPs. Let's build a great nation!

It was a united decision regardless of ethnicity or religion. Hope that power would be utilized for Sri Lankans to march forward for a better future!

But some people sent some corrupted four or five people, which we don't want. Instead, if they sent some fresh good people, the parliament be a good composition. Anyway, in the future we can be proud to know that we also contributed to create a good country. Jayawewa Sri Lanka.
