Question 2

🧐 Odd One Out 🚫

Which painting is the odd one out, and why?

Minimal Square Photo Collage Photography Instagram Post.jpg

Hint 1:

Look for the original painting - this collage shows just sections because it’s „Canva resized“.

Hint 2:

It is neither about the ‘content’ of the painting(s) nor the artist(s). Note the craft itself.

Ach so! The Creation of Adam is a fresco - painted directly onto the ceiling of a chapel. It's a mural painting, whereas the others are traditional works on canvas or panel.

I missed this detail during my image search: 🤦‍♂️

✅ Correct!
My next hint would have been: "It's all a question of perspective."
I thought this question would be too easy an was quite irritated when nobody answered... Though, great!

Clearly, it wasn't that easy for me 😅 - but it's well-crafted question, considering there so many possible answers!

off-topic: It’ll take me a bit to respond to your other comment - there’s a lot to take in 😉

Mona Lisa is the only painting without religious or mythological symbolism.

while the rest:
The Birth of Venus - mythological portrayal of the Roman goddess of love.
The Creation of Adam - biblical scene from the Book of Genesis, depicting God giving life to Adam.
Dürer’s Self-Portrait – a self-portrait resembling traditional depictions of Christ.

👎 Probably a very good explanation but unfortunately not the answer I am looking for.

I had a different answer in mind, but your hint made me pick Mona Lisa instead.

The hint was to say: "Do not rely on the 'cut outs', watch each painting in its total (especially 'Venus' and 'Adam' are much wider)."

I thought it only had to do with the paintings themselves...

I’m still not sure, but I’d say the odd one out might be Dürer’s Self-Portrait, since it’s the only one that shows the artist himself.

I thought about it too while writing my first response, but since she's kind of insisting on looking at the full paintings, I came up with another answer, although a little far-fetched.

The 1st hint makes sense now, but even in my image search, I didn't come across the 'full' painting of Adam... That, or I'm art illiterate 😅

👎... 😔
I included a new hint.

Although the self-portrait of Albrecht Dürer is said to be inspired by his travels to Italy, the artist was German, unlike other artists (Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli) who were all Italian. I don't know what to think of the hint. I have an idea but this answer although obvious sounds more convincing to me. 😶

👎 Though very good, too, this isn't what I am looking for.
The hint was to say: "Do not rely on the 'cut outs', watch each painting in it's total (especially 'Venus' and 'Adam' are much wider)."

All paintings except Dürer's have something feminine about them — Mona Lisa, Venus and in Creation of Adam, there's an extra rib of Eve on Adam's left and also on the right some think there's a picture of human brain and others think it's a uterus.

I included a new hint.

I feel the 1st picture is art with hand but other are also looking hand made
