Steemit Learning Challenge-S21W1; Frozen Shoulder"
Assalam-o-Alaikum! |

Hello friends! I'm @drcypto1 from #pakistan and I warmly welcome all of you to my post. I hope that you all will be fine and will be enjoying your lives. Today I'm going to participate in the contest in Steem Physio & Rehab The topic is "Frozen Shoulder". Let's start the topic;
What's frozen shoulder? Write in your own words after getting knowledge from the lesson post. |
---|
Frozen shoulder which is also known as adhesive capsulitis is a condition which is characterized by pain or often stiffness of the shoulder joint. This condition typically developes gradually but with time it limit the movement of shoulder significantly. The exact cause of frozen shoulder is not clear, but this condition is build due to injury in accident, surgery or prolonged immobility of the joint. This condition is developed in usually three phases: freezing phase in which pain increase and reduce mobility of joint occurs. Second phase is frozen phase in which pain may decrease but the stiffness remains. Third phase is thawing phase in which gradual return of motion occurs.
Frozen shoulder mainly is of two types; primary frozen shoulder and secondary frozen shoulder. Primary frozen shoulder occurs when there's prolonged immobility of the joint. This condition is also occurs when we sleep in wrong posture for a long time. I have examined this many times when I sleep in wrong posture I feel pain in my neck or in my shoulders. Secondary frozen shoulder is the condition caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatides, surgery or due to injury in any road accident. This condition is more complicated and can be the cause of strain, often muscle strain, inflammation is also happen in secondary frozen shoulder.
Treatment should be done in early stage of this condition, if not done proper treatment this can cause severe damage to our arm also. Treatment of frozen shoulder often includes physical therapy, pain management and in some cases carticosteroids injections to reduce inflammation.
How would you diagnose a frozen shoulder? Any clinical investigation or assessment tests? |
---|
Diagnosis of frozen shoulder typically evolves the combination of clinical evaluation and specific assessment. I'm not a medical practitioner but after getting some knowledge from lesson I have come to know that how to run the little diagnosis about the patient that either he is suffering from the condition of frozen shoulder or not. And also I would be able to know the actual cause and type of frozen shoulder.
During diagnosis process first thing which I will aboserve the reaction of patient while trying to hold the effecting shoulder area. If the patient is cringes I will come to know that there's actually a problem in that area. Next thing I will observe the inflammation, I will see either there's any inflammation or not in the effected area. If there's inflammation, this means that there is actually a problem and it is serious cause of frozen shoulder. By these ways I can manually check the patient with frozen shoulder. Range of Motion (ROM) test is used for evaluation of both active and passive movement of arm. And by apply gis test we can easily check the severness of frozen shoulder.
Beside this, there's also clinical evaluation can be done. Frozen shoulder can be assess by sme tests like and for this X-rays come first. By doing x-rays test I can can do the clinical evaluation of frozen shoulder. CT scan, MRI tests can also be used for assessment of frozen shoulder. Some other special test like speed test, neer's test, aplet scratch test are uses for diagnosis of frozen shoulder.
Try to practice at least 3 exercises that you have learned from the lesson. Share images, gifs or videos while practising. |

Well this is an excellent section of this week's lesson. In this section I'm going to share with all of you the exercise necessary for healing the frozen shoulder. From the list given in the lesson I have choosed three exercises and below I have showed practicaly all the three excercises which are helpful for healing the frozen shoulder
- Wand should flexion:
The first excercise which I do is the wand shoulder flexion excercise. The goal of this excercise is to gradually fix and free the muscles around the shoulder area and it's connected biceps. I have done this by holding a stick which act as my wand and than move it from lower to upper region slowly. In the video given below I have showed the wand shoulder flexion.

- Cross body stretch:
Cross body stretch is the excercise done for less functional shoulder. One of my arm is crossed to other side of my shoulder and other arm support it in below side than make a move gradually back and forth while maintaining my static position for effectiveness of my excercise. See the video given below

- Shoulder circle:
Shoulder circle is the exercise used for freeing the frozen shoulder and this is my last exercise among all three excercises. I do this by shrugging the shoulder in a circular manner in both clockwise and anticlockwise for more effectiveness. I feel very better after doing this excercise. Below is the videos of shoulder circle excercise.

Share your revies after performing these excercises |

After the excercise mention above, I felt very comfortable and relax. I felt free to body stiffness especially the shoulder region. My muscles of the arm feel relax also. As these are the excercises for healing frozen shoulder, my joint in the shoulder showed comfortable movement after these excercises. The best thing of these excercises are that these are cost free and can be done in home. Specific time is also not required and we can done these excercises at any time in our home. That's why these excercises are more easy and are show effective results for frozen shoulder.
So friends this is all about my today post. Hopefully you will learn something from my post. At the end I'm inviting @jollymonoara, @max-pro and @suboohi for participating in this contest.
Thank you for your post and for mentioning me and publishing this post. You have done every exercise very nicely and uploaded the video. Exercise is good for health as well as if we can maintain various physical activities then we will always be physically fit
Ofcourse by doing excercise we can live a healthy life both physically and mentally. Thanks for reading my post and for this beautiful comment.
thanks a lot.
Your videos are really instructive. I hope your followers will try these exercises. Good luck for the contest.
Thanks friend for this appreciation 😊.
Thank you for understanding the lesson and sharing your assignment; I hope that you will enjoy this week's lesson and try to implement it in your life if you see any such case.
Observations
Task 1 (2.8/3)
You have shared a good knowledge about frozen shoulder, its stages, and types and also shared details of each thing, that is the best part of your answer. But you can also add the phases of a frozen shoulder, like acute, subacute and chronic phases. I appreciate your effort.
Task 2 (2.7/3)
In the second question, you write about the shoulder examination, assessment, ROM measurements and investigations to complete the diagnosis. But you can add at least 1 or 2 special tests like speed test, yergason test, and many more. The good thing is you add that if there is inflammation it could be more damaging. You answer this question well. Good.
Task 3 (3.8/4)
You try the wand shoulder flexion, shoulder circles and cross body stretch in a good way. But shoulder circles should be performed in both directions forward and backward for better results. Remember always apply heating pad before performing these exercises. I appreciate your efforts.
Overall you made a good try to answer all the questions. I appreciate your efforts. But next time try to avoid the above written suggestions. Keep learning and try to implement your knowledge to the people suffering from any shoulder pathology or you suffer from such condition. Thank you.
