Do you feel closer to your friends and family because of social media, or do you think it keeps you apart?

I feel I'm much closer to my friends and family because of social media and the reason I say so is because since the coming of social media, I'm able to see and talk to my family members virtually eventually every day.

Here in Nigeria, the youths are always quick to leave their parents and begin their life hustle and my case is not different. So in my hustling, I don't stay close to my family house instead I go far away from the house to learn how to survive alone but that doesn't mean I forget about my family.

So social media assist me so much to talk to them every time and when I do that, it feels as though we are together and that is why I don't feel their absent and the phone call and video call makes it look as though we are here together.

How often do you use your phone or computer to talk to people compared to meeting them in person?

---

Very often. I'm a very reserved and a shy person and for that reason I prefer talking to people on phone than having a physical meetup. So if you ask me to have a conversation or discussion with someone I may not be able to express myself very well but once it is online it becomes very easy for me to do without stress.

So using my phone or computer to discuss enables me to ensure that I discuss intensively and express myself very well. Since sometimes we don't have to see ourselves before talking it makes easier for me to talk.

Can technology help us make new friends, or does it mainly connect us with people we already know?

---

Yes technology helps us to make new friends and not just connecting us with people we know already. Take for instance the Steemit platform. Here on Steemit, I began as a Nigerian and here in Nigeria I'm also restricted to a given geographical location but with the helps of technology, I'm able to connect with all Nigerians.

Aside having connections with Nigerians, I also have connections with those around the world i.e., other countries like Venezuela, India and many more. I have friends all over these places I have mentioned and I can go ahead to discuss and do things with them without any bridge of communication.

Have you ever felt lonely while using social media? Why do you think that happens?

---

Yes when you don't have the right people to communicate with at that point you will feel lonely using the social media platform. Communication makes more sense when you have the right people and you have the right communication going on.

When you don't have the right people who reasons same as you it becomes difficult for you to enjoy the communication and that leads to you being lonely while using the social media. So always ensure you do that which give you joy and with the right people at the right time.

Technology has changed the way we communicate with each other in so many ways but the most notable way is that we have the privilege to talk to anyone anytime no matter the distance. This is not possible before now but technology has made it very possible.

Also, people have the ability to completely express themselves now with the help of technology. When people talk to these they are shy of talking to physically on the phone they have a way of expressing themselves very well to the very best. This is one of the major ways which Technology changed the way we communicate.
