13th October: World Metastatic Breast cancer Awareness Day by @starshipsfly
Good evening all. Welcome to my blog. Today being world Metastatic breast cancer awareness day I want to create awareness of this event.
What is world Metastatic breast cancer awareness day.
Every year, the 13th of the month of October is recognized as Metastatic breast cancer awareness day.
The aim of recognizing this day is to create awareness of breast cancer and what victims of breast cancer pass through. The metastatic stage of breast cancer is considered a very critical stage, stage four cancer. In this case, the tumor has spread from the breasts to other organs in the body like the lungs, brain, heart and bones.
There is no current cure for metastatic breast cancer at the moment so patients in this critical stage are most like to experience mental instability issues like anxiety and depression.one of the aims of breast cancer awareness day is for everyone to play a part in giving this patients a ray of hope. Because of how critical this condition is, sufferers often experience mental breakdown, become depressed and some in worst cases commit suicide. Each and everyone of us can help by encouraging anyone that we know that suffers from metastatic breast cancer and helping them out in anyway we can. Reach out to them and support them anyway that we can.
We can also create awareness by going for medical check-up when we see red flags that may indicate the chances of having breast cancer. Because cancer is best cured in the initial stage, when we carry out examination and discover it early then one can go through chemotherapy treatment or another treatment that may prevent the tumor from spreading to other parts of the body.
Ways to carry out self breast examination
Use your fingers, middle and index finger preferably to feel for any strange lumps in the breast. When you see strange swellings in your breast or coloration, make sure to contact your doctor. Also bear in mind that not all lumps are cancerous so do not panic when you discover a lump in your breast. Carry out this exercise frequently or if possible make it a routine like checking it once in every month because a tumor may develop at any time.
Do you know that men are not left out in this deadly disease? Yes men do develop breast cancer but it happens most especially when you have frequent cases of cancer in your family so it is likely to affect the male in the family too. So as a man, try to feel your breast too, apply gentle pressure in other to check for unusual lumps.
Cancer is not a death sentence and it is not airborne so please, do not stigmatize cancer patients rather, encourage them and let them understand that we all in this together. Do not be scared to go for a breast examination for cancer because cancer is best treated in the early stages so do not let it metastasize. By doing this we are taking care of our body, a gift from God.

Thanks for raising this awareness @starshipfly. I am now enlightened that breast cancer can also affect men. I would be more conscious to perform routine examination of myself as well.
Am really glad you took out your time to read and benefited from this post. Thanks alot for visiting my blog
