SLC S23 Week4 || Quadrilaterals Dated: 15-3-2025
Greeting to all steemians. how are you guys i hope you all are doing well in your life so today i am doing a challenge of Geometry with Geogebra Quadrilaterals so lets begin.
QUADRILATERAL:
A quadrilateral is a closed shape and a type of polygon that has four sides four vertices and four angles.
The quadrilateral word is derived from Latin words ‘Quadra’ which means four and 'Latus' means sides.
TYPES OF QUADRILATERAL:
- Parallelogram
- Trapezoid
- Rectangle
- Rhombus
- square.
Parallelogram:.
A quadrilateral in which opposite side are parallel and equal but its diagonal are not same.
PROPERTIES OF PARALLELOGRAM:
- The opposite side of the parallelogram are of the same length
- The opposite sides are parallel to each other
- The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other
- The opposite angles are of equal measure
- The sum of two adjacent angles of a parallelogram is equal to 180 degrees.
TRAPEZOID:
A quadrilateral with two (2) and only 2 sides are parallel. It is also called a Trapezium.
Types of Trapezoids:
PROPERTIES OF TRAPEZOIDS:
There are many types of property of trapezoids but i write some of them.
- the base angles and the diagonals of an isoscele trapezoid are equal.
- if you draw a median on a trapezoid it will be parallel to the bases,
- If there is a trapezoid with sides A, b, c and d and diagonals p and Q, the following equation will be the true one p2+q2= c2+d2+2ab.
- the Intersection point of the diagonals is Collinear to the midpoints of the two(2) opposite sIdes .
RECTANGLE:
A parallelogram in which all angles are right angles and its diagonal lenght are same.its also a a type of quadrilateral that has its parallel sides equal to each other and all the four(4) vertices are equal to 90 degrees . and its also known by equiangular quadrilateral.
PROPERTIES OF RECTANGLE:
- Diagonal bisect each other.
- It has four sides and four vertices.
- It is a parallelogram with four right angles.
- The opposite sides are equal and parallel.
- Sum of all interior angles equal to 360 degrees.
SQUARE:
A rectangle with four equal sides and all the angles are 90 degree. the two sides at each corner oR vertex , meet at right angleS.
FOR EXAMPLE:
if one side of a rectangle is 20 cm then the side opposite to it also 20 cm.
POPERTIES OF RECTANGLE:
- iT has four sides and four vertices.
- Each vertex has angle equal to 90 degrees.
- Diagonal bisect each other.
- It is a parallelogram with four(4) right angles.
