How do you glance towards the word disability? Describe.

Disability is the process where parts of the human body are impaired as a result of injury. Cerebral palsy, dementia, and blindness affect an individual's personality and ability to perform various activities. Some of these people living with physical challenges do not have equal access to different opportunities within a given community, and in some cases, they are even discriminated against due to their condition.

Disability can occur at birth, or a child may be born completely normal without any disability. This disability may also arise as a result of an accident; for example, a child may fall down the staircase, leading to disabilities in certain parts of their body.

Disability is a long-term disorder that a human may experience throughout their lifespan.

Which disability is more challenging? Physical or mental!

Mental disabilities are more challenging in the society we are living in. There are some cases where mentally disabled individuals are isolated by their families because they don't want their friends or society to know what they have in their family. Mental disabilities face a lot more challenges than physically disabled persons because, once you are physically disabled, you are visible and society will be able to recognize you.

Whereas mental disabilities are invisible because they affect the brain, and society in some cases stigmatizes them, similar to how we see the homeless on the street. Mental disabilities often face health issues, unlike physical disabilities that often see opportunities in terms of physical aid. Many individuals with mental disabilities are consistently underestimated, and many times they are not fully accepted as members of the public.

How can we encourage those who are going through a disability? Explain!

First of all, they are part and parcel of society, and they must also know that disability should not define who they are. They should seek help as well as support from people within a given society. Disability is not the end of life; in fact, it's an opportunity for many to be recognized through the talents or skills that God has blessed them with.

They must be included in participating in solving societal problems because many, especially those with physical disabilities, are more intelligent in inventing tools that will be useful to the masses. Anytime they see something positive, they must inform members of the community so that they can be recognized and accepted in society. Lastly, they must also eat well, especially quality food that has a good balanced diet, so that it can help them stay safe and fit.

I would like to invite @jasminemary, @rossnenye and @christnenye to participate in this contest.

Sort:

We must affirm their strengths. Encourage meaningful contributions by actively dismantling systemic barriers. Provide accessible resources, but fundamentally, treat the individual with dignity and respect their agency.

Our role is to facilitate inclusion, championing ability over perceived limitation.
