So, hope is the sales trick. As long as people hope they will stay, the same for the illusion of winning something, although many leave disappointed that they did not win once.

You should really add a few more words since I have no clue what you mean. You said you kept posting with the hope you would receive that upvote sooner or later..well it'was a lot later.
It's a fact that people do a lot for empty promises. Look at loteries, ponzi schemes, contests where you receive 100% from the host who has 0 and there are many more "sales" tricks.
I assume you read the news that the boosting votes no longer will belong to a community? Not that it changes anything for you. Let's see if there will arise more communities with a topic like in the old days.

All I'm saying is hope could only last for a while except we try to make some new an d few changes that do not change the philosophy of the community but then helps to elate the souls of our community members.
