Experimenting With the Kinks 2025. Acrylic on cardboard, 11 x 14"

As you may already know, I am making 50 paintings to exhibit at another Stuckist’s gallery in Lincoln, UK. These are all cardboard and uniform in size (11 x 14"), in order to make shipping affordable. I’ll mail them a month before I arrive to London in April to play art with some other Stuckists. Mid-stay, I’ll take a train ride up to Retford and walk to a little village to the burial ground of my ancestors. The next day I’ll train to Lincoln and show the paintings. Oh yes, and give them all away. Maybe the proprietor Donald can ask for a donation for each painting, to help with gallery overhead.
So my routine for the past couple weeks is to remain in the studio each day until two of these paintings are finished. It takes about a couple hours per painting, sometimes a bit more. I listen to classical and pop music and breathe through my nose. It’s a great way to get lost in reverie and sometimes achieve a light, steady ecstasy.
I made this painting today while listening to a Kinks playlist.

Sooo it's Ron's February Stuckism Month. I hear you are in good company. Does what you hear inspire what you will paint or is it the other way round (mood and music first). A few hours per painting is a full day of painting breaks included?
Are dancing while you paint? Lots of fun!

Does what I hear inspire what I paint?
Sometimes, yes. More so the titles and definitely the “feel” of where I’m going with the piece. I like to think of my work as a daily journal. History was my major in college, and social and personal (geneological) history has always fascinated me. I believe artists should paint the times, their times. Even if their time is a landscape or a vase of flowers. Lucky for them if it is! I’m more of a rebel to the world I ended up in—so I often paint via feelings of estrangement to the culture I can’t deny but wish I could:)
On average I paint 5 hours a day, and take a day off on Saturday or Sunday. And yes, I dance in the studio. But with great highs come intense lows. I also keen and weep on the floor, as the cat looks on like I’m in a death throe:)
