Deep dive on Neptunia oleracea – Water Spinach Low fuss and Healthy Vegetables to Plant
Leafy vegetable: water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica), used in places like S.E. Asia etc. Popular in the plant: this is a favorite plant to grow because it easy to raise generally nutritious and pleasant taste. It is also often used for many dishes such as stir-fry, soup or even fried food with this water spinach.
Characteristics and Habitat
Water spinach is a wetland plant. Land spinach and water spinach are both types of plant which are commonly known as water spinach.
Land spinach generally planted in dry soils and needs to watered regularly.
Meanwhile water spinach is a plant that grows in water environments such as ponds, ditches or paddy-fields
Their Water spinach leaves grow narrow and pointy. Koi grass is a floating species plant with a hollow stem that allows it to float on water. In addition, water spinach is a short-lived plant; less than thirty days after planting the leaves and stems can be harvested.

Water spinach has the following very significant nutrients among others:
Fiber, which is good for digestion.
Vitamin A, for eye health.
Vitamin C, as an antioxidant and increases endurance.
Iron, which helps prevent anemia.
Calcium, for bone health.
With these contents, water spinach is very good for regular consumption by all groups, from children to adults.
How to Plant Water Spinach
Planting water spinach is very easy, even for beginners. Here are the steps:
Seed Preparation: Choose quality water spinach seeds. You can buy seeds at agricultural stores or collect them from old water spinach flowers.
Planting Media: Prepare loose, nutrient-rich soil. For land water spinach, mix the soil with compost or manure.
Maintenance: Remove any weeds that may be bothering you and make sure the plants get enough sunlight.
Harvest and Processing
Water spinach are harvested at the 20-30 cm height. If harvesting, it may be uprooting the entire plant or cutting stems and allowing regrowth. Water spinach can be processed directly after harvesting or stored in refrigerator for next 1-2 days.
