Agricultural Story #17

Farming is like a journey which include different steps. If one step isn’t executed properly, the other might find it difficult to correspond. So, all steps must be concisely made. As I wrote in my last blog concerning my agricultural story about planting of crops, this blog will featured the first weeding after planting.

When the seeds (maize) and stems (cassava) successfully sprout from the soil, it is usually competed with. Since the soil is open to all vegetation, weeds used that opportunity to sprout alongside the planted crops. As my mum will say “it’s the responsibility of the weed to grow but it’s our responsibility to make sure that no harm is done to the crops”.Since the morning sun is just scorching like being in a fire simulator, we decided that we’ll shift our agricultural expeditions and adventure to evening periods from 3pm.

During a fateful evening, we moved out as a family to face our crops adversary (weeds). The mission was simple; conquer those adversaries and bring peace to those innocent crops. When we arrived at the farm, I went out and did some photograph manipulation session. After that, the main job begin as everyone grab their hoes and ready to work.

During that early period, my mother assigned another mission to me which was to uproot cassava which was affected by the fire. The back story was that during bush burning of this current farm we are working on currently, the fire spread to the other farm near it. The fact is that we have 4 plot of lands joined together, so we plant 2 and leave the other 2 till the next agricultural session.

The matured cassava on the plot was burnt and I had to uproot it. I executed the job despite the fact that those cassava stems scratched me continually but I had to do it regardless. I went back to the original task which was weeding.

My second coming was with steeze cus I decided to take photography session more seriously. I had to take individual pictures of everyone present except my dad. My father is not photogenic, so I had to respect that because that was me before I joined Steemit.

After few hours, we completed 2 plots of land. Our initial thought was that we’ll finish 1 plot and we will come for the other some other day. It was a great feat achieved that day. We went home tired but fulfilled.
