Farming was the foundation of all human civilization. Even up to the ancient days where farmers used crude tools to work with, farming has still remained subject to evolution. This is a novel age of technology that is making agriculture smarter, faster and greener.

Farmer in most areas are now using drones to monitor their produce, detect illnesses early on and even spray pesticides. Weather forecasts can be made with the help of artificial intelligence and farmers will be able to plant their crops at the best time to reduce crop losses. Blockchain and crypto technology is making the process of farmers selling their produce without middlemen and directly to the buyer and be guaranteed of transparency and fair pay even easier.

There is an increase in urban agriculture as well - individuals are cultivating vegetables on rooftops, balconies, and indoors through the use of hydroponics and vertical farming systems. This saves space as well as transportation costs and preserves food.

But there is more to agriculture than technology. It is patient, connected and renewed. The life of a farmer teaches us to be strong as we work on our fields in faith, weing in hope, and harvesting in thanks. Each harvest is a reminder that growth invariably follows with refining and perseverance.

The youths in Africa and particularly in Nigeria are starting to think of agriculture not as an old profession but a future business. Through new technologies such as smart irrigation, organic agriculture, and agri-fintech systems, agriculture will be increasingly appealing and lucrative.

Agriculture has a green, digital and promise-filled future. So long as the world has food to eat agriculture will be one of the strongest pillars of life, nourishing not only bodies, but dreams and nations.
