The Power of Agriculture: Feeding the Future

Farming is not simply sowing seed and reaping what one plants instead it is the pulse of all successful countries. Agriculture has significant contributions in our daily lives whether in food we eat on our tables, or the clothes that we wear. It is a holistic medicine that forms a bond between the earth to the human and its effects extend much beyond farms and fields.

The Agricultural field is one of the most fascinating things and one of the reasons is that it is continually evolving. Those were the times when people used hoes and cutlass to work in farms. The farmers today were using drones, sensors, and the satellite data to check up on crops and increase their production. More than ever, with precision farming we are producing more with less: saving water, avoiding waste, maximizing yields.

The other high-potential trend is urban farming. In urban centers that restrict the amount of space people can have, people are using areas in ways never before seen where they are using rooftops, balconies and even shipping containers as mini-farms. The movement does not only bring food closer to the consumers but also minimizes carbon emissions through transportation. It is also raising a greater understanding among the youths on the source of origin to their food.

Millions of human beings in the world also have their employment work in agriculture particularly the developing nations. It could be raising cassava, raising poultry or tomato farming, but through farming the community is empowered and economies are developed and hunger combated.

Nevertheless, farming is in a very bad situation. Food security is threatened by climate change, soil degradation and pests in the world. That is why education and innovation are important. Farmers have to be empowered through available training, technology, and sustainable practices capable of keeping the environment and sustenance of people under the effect of feeding more people.

After all, agriculture doesn t only mean crops, it means culture, sustainability, and survival. We can create such a future where everyone is feeding and nature is being healthy today, taking into consideration and investing in intelligent agriculture, assisting farmers in the region, and accepting modernity.

What we are worried about is not just celebrating the agriculture as a vocation, but as an inheritance of feeding the world, to provide hope to future generations.
