INTRODUCTION

Great joy fills my heart whenever I have an opportunity to share my opinion on matters in regards Agriculture. Permit me to seize this privilege and appreciate @hive-118902 for always bringing this contest up. Agriculture as we all know, centres in the rearing of animals and cultivation of crops. It cuts across all spheres of life. This is true as all living things depends directly or indirectly on Agricultural products for survival. To further emphasize the usefulness of agriculture in this modern life, let's consider answering the question

What are the Importance of Agriculture in this Modern Life?

In the modern world, Agriculture remains the fulcrum that stabilizes and powers the nation. The influence of Agriculture vis-a-vis its importance can be felt in the following areas of human endeavors

Food Security	Economic Development	Environmental Sustainable	Industrial Growth	Technological Advancement	Renewal Energy	Global Trade

Food Security

The importance of Agriculture is visible in the area food security. This is possible since Agriculture provides food such as maize, okro, cassava, yam etc. the provision of this items ensures the continuous provision of food for the modern world. Let me end this by saying that without food, it is impossible to appreciate the modern world.

Economic Development

In this Modern Life, the importance of Agriculture is not only limited to food security but covers Economic Development as well. Under Economic Development, Agriculture plays significant roles in creating employment opportunities, providing revenue for the government as well as serving as bank of raw materials for all Development projects.

Environmental Sustainability

One of the reasons why Deserts are not very favorable to stay is the absence of Agricultural activities. Going by this, one could justify that our friendly ecosystem, cool breeze, shade and awesome voices of animals are all directly or indirectly linked to Agriculture. With this, Environmental Sustainability such as organic family and other agro- activities are compliments agriculture importance.

Industrial Growth

The modern world is filled with industries and companies and all these companies obtains their raw materials from agriculture. For example, the pharmaceutical industries uses Agricultural products as their precursors. Textile industries which uses fibre, beverage industries which uses cocoa, and construction industries which uses coaltar can testify to the importance of Agriculture in this Modern Life.

Renewal Energy Production

Renewal Energy would have been near impossible if not for Agriculture. The sources of renewal energies such as water, biofuel, biomass, carbon are all directly or indirectly linked to Agriculture. As such, agriculture plays significant important to our modern life since we are almost dependent on renewal energies.

Global Trade

Many foreign trades are powered by agriculture through it's different Agricultural products. Products such as crude oil, rice, palm oil, groundnuts, cement, paints, body cream which can be imported and exported are all Agricultural products. Thus, Agriculture holds importance as it harnesses and brings about effective collaboration among nations in the modern world.

My Personal Agricultural Experience on Poultry

I intentionally do not want to talk about Myself in regards the cultivation of crops. Rather, I want to showcase myself on the area of Poultry farming so as to remind and wipe out the perception of people which perceives that agriculture is only limited to the cultivation of crops.

Below are the basics of broilers poultry farming for the period of 12 weeks

Week 1 -Week 2: The Brooding Stage

This happens to be the most critical stage of broilers farming. This period starts from hatching to two weeks after hatching. It involves a period where the birds needs "pampering" moderate temperature of 32 - 35 degree Celsius, proper ventilation and good lightening. At this stage, we used starter as feed coupled with clean water and vaccines.

Week 3 - Week 4: Early Growth Stage

At this stage, the "pampering chicks" gradually gains ground and the temperature can be reduced as the chicks grows feather. Here feeds must be rich in protein while clean water complements it. The birds must be highly spacious and the room highly ventilated.

Week 5 - Week 6: Mid growth stage

At this stage, the birds continue to gain weight and both their food and water intake increases tremendously. Here, regular checks for diseases, proper ventilation and grower feeds are recommended for effective yield.

Week 7 - Week 11 Finishing Stage

This is the stage where the birds have fully become birds, their weight increased, their food intake and water intake increased as well. At this point the birds are given vitamins, finisher feeds and a well routine check must always be make to keep them dry always.

Week 12 and above

Broilers which is always designed for consumption and not for laying of eggs, can be consumed from the twelve week. With this simple formula I am confident that we will be having tremendous poultry farmers
