I finally visited a poultry farm i have always wanted to visit but haven't gotten the time to go there. This day was the right time which i made out time to make the visit. It is one of the biggest poultry farm in my neighbourhood with about 10 to 15 staff and about six thousand laying birds.

Here is an outside view of the poultry farm, it has about six triangle cages housing the birds. The farm is neat and properly maintained and managed. The owners are doing a great job! Highly commendable.

Here is one of the cages where the birds are kept at their brooding stage. Brooding stage is when the birds are just a few weeks old and hardly have much feathers on them. I was told they will remain in the warm confines of the cage as they grow and mature with more feathers till they are about 2 - 3 weeks old. Keeping them in this warm enclosed environment helps them regulate their body temperature and boost their immune system in those 14 to 21 days they will be there. Afterwards they transition to the growing period where they are transferred to another cage with more space with less intensive care.

I got some fresh eggs from the poultry which were layed by the layers which are the mature birds that produces eggs. They were sold at a cheaper rate compare to how much they are sold for at the market. When i got home i refill them into my old empty crates of eggs it filled them and i had some more left. I was really excited because it was a good buy and i saved some money out of it. I will keep patronising them.
My family enjoy having eggs in our meals such as boiled or fried eggs for breakfast. We also have it in sauce with yams or with rice. Eggs are very healthy and yummy!
