One day the baboon was going along the village part and met the tortoise who was on his way home. He asked the tortoise if he had eaten and the tortoise said no and wondered why the baboon cared because the animals know him as a trick star.

Well, you can come to my house and eat, I had prepared a good meal. The tortoise was grateful and followed the baboon home. The baboon walked ahead of him while he painstakingly crawled a long distance to the bush that was the home of the baboon.

When he came into the bush, the baboon was angry that he came late but the tortoise explained his slow nature as his predicament.

Well, If you want to eat with me, the baboon said, you would have to climb the trees to the pot of food as he pointed to the pots of foods tucked away on the tree branches very high.

I can’t climb begged the tortoise, please be kind enough to get the food down to me. If you can’t climb, no food for you said the baboon. The tortoise felt bad and knew he had only been tricked.

He went away sad to his home on an empty and hungry stomach. On his way home, he thought of ways to get back to the unkind baboon.

Sometime later he invited the baboon to his house for a meal. The baboon thought he tortoise has forgotten what he did to him and decided to honor the invite.

The baboon passed through the thick bushes to the village and passed the village stream to get to the tortoise house. He passed through some burnt lands because it was dry season and the bushes were burnt in preparation for rainy season and farming.

When he got to the tortoise house, the food was almost ready and the tortoise told the baboon that he will come and join him only if he went to the stream to wash his hands as thy were dirty from the burnt ground he passed through.

The baboon rushed down to the stream to wash his hands but would still pass through the burnt bushes before getting to the tortoises house only to be as dirty as before.

If you don’t wash your hands clean, you won’t eat with me the tortoise said as he had already begun to eat. The baboon rushed down again to stream only to come back dirty again and to meet the tortoise swallowing the last morsel of food. It was then it dawned on him that he had been tricked by the tortoise. He left angry to his house.

The moral of this story is to be kind to others and don’t play with peoples emotions.
