A Great Time

With a smack, Father slammed the brochure on the table. Look, he said cheerfully, I have booked this for you. Hj pretended it was a holiday but it wasn't. You can go there in a week. His face beamed as he opened the brochure and read out the amazing facilities. Ma went to buy a suitcase and some extra amenities listed. I didn't want to hear him because it was pretty clear what he wanted and that was Mum and the house all to himself. He had never been happy with my presence and the attention Mum gave to me.

Dus kwam ik in een internaat terecht. Natuulijk niet in mijn eigen land want hij wilde het gevaar niet lopen dat ik de weg naar huis terug zou vinden. Ik moest dus naar het buitenland omdat daar goede scholen zijn en ik zou dan ook gelijk manieren leren voegde hij er aan toe. Het studentenleven is de tijd van je leven glunderde hij. Ik wist niks en zei ook niks ook niet toen ik hem al fluitend in de auto zag stappen en wegrijden nadat hij mijn koffer op het grindpad had gekwakt.

Daar sta ik dan al een idioot, gedumpt als een hond, op straat gezet.
Het eten is hier smeirg en zo te zien ben ik niet de enige die met een lang gezicht op de foto staat. Ik heb een hekel aan schoolfoto's en helemaal aan leraren die vinden dat foto's leuk zijn voor later. Wie wil zich nu zo'n rottijd herinneren?
