“Contest : "This or That " - Is it better For planting trees in a Rainy season or a Another season?

One of the big pluses is the water supply is great. Moisture from the rain keeps the soil healthy so the tree has a good chance to establish a strong root system that can better tap into drought resistant water sources. Besides, it’s cool and relatively wet during this season, which is best condition for plant growing. Tree saplings are also more likely to survive because they are less stressed by hot, dry weather.

But rain season tree planting also has several cons. One is that the soil gets too wet — or even waterlogged — and tree roots rot as a result. Heavy rain can also washes away newly planted tree seedlings or their root-soil. And the weeds and plant diseases develop faster in the rainy season and need additional care.

It is also possible to tree plant during the dry season, or any other season if there is good irrigation system put in place. An advantage of planting beyond the rainy season is being able to ensure irrigation and soil management. Trees planted in dry conditions are also less prone to disease from too much moisture. Another benefit is it is easier to plant since the ground is not so muddy or slippery.

Outside the wet season though, planting trees is highly problematic, in water terms. The rainy season represents an excellent moment to plant trees as trees benefit from high water and humidity ensuring they“stand” better. There are certainly [a few] risks, including waterlogging [too much water] and disease, but the benefits are much more numerous and profound. But with a little love and a nice irrigation system, it is still possible to plant in other seasons. It means the best time for planting is ideally during the rainy season – particularly for farmers, or those who farm whose main source of irrigation is nature.

Gracias
