Are you a farmer?

I am a farmer but I am not too based on farming, I only farm because I have a piece of land which I do not want to allow it to waste. Also I do not rely on farming as a profession. But farming has helped me throughout the years to provide food for me and my family. Also sometimes when I am out of money I do sell some crops to have some money.

Does your family and area have different types of plants or cultivable land?

Both my family and the place which I live in have areas which a person can cultivate and plant what he or she wants. There are enough spaces for anyone who wants to cultivate plants or rear animals. And a person can plant crops of his or her choice and also rear farm animals like cow,goat, sheep 🐑 And even snails for the purpose of farming.

What type of crop is grown the most in your area and what is its planting method?

The most common and most frequently planted crop in my area is cassava. Cassava is a tuber crop that is used in the production of flour ,garri and cassava is also the most planted tuber crop in Nigeria and also in Africa. Cassava is planted by making a heap or ridge and you plant in the sticks of the cassava tuber to enable it grow and when planting the stick should not be long it should be short but also not too short.

How good do you think the soil fertility is in your area?

For me the fertility of the soil in my area is the best that I have ever seen because I can plant many different crops on it and it will still produce good results. The fertility of the soil in my area is good that there is nothing that I want to plant that will not produce well. And also it is based on the type of soil that is planted the loamy soil here in Nigeria is so fertile that many crops can be planted on the soil.

Finally, please share with us what types of vegetables and crops are grown in your area during winter.

There are some few crops that are grown during winter this includes water leaf , vegetable leaf and many other leafy vegetables. This are the types of crops that are grown in the winter season because people grow it closer to the waterside and they water it constantly so that the plants can yeild well .
