Harvesting rice.

We have a very busy day planned today. We have to harvest the paddy, bag it and sell it at the same time. We will be busy from morning today. Let's start today's busy diary.....

First work according to plan

Eid of Sacrifice is coming, for some sacrifices at our cow farm. Today, two cows from our farm are being prepared to be taken to the market for sale. My elder brother will take the cows to the market. The cows were bathed and fed this morning.

The vehicle transporting the cows arrived at 9 am. The market where today's cows will be taken is 40 km away from our house. For this, we have to leave in the morning. There were already two more cows to drive. Our cows were brought out and tied up in the cart. They were supported with bamboo poles at the back so that the cows would not jump around in the cart. We sent the cows to the cattle market.

We are interrupted by an engine failure in our main plan for the day.

Our main task this time will be to harvest rice. A harvester machine has arrived to harvest our rice. But unfortunately, after unloading the harvester, we found out that a part of the engine inside was broken. The pinion of the part that holds the hauler in the threshing section was broken. It will take about 3 hours to repair the harvester. There was some disruption in our work plan. Our plan has been halted for some time. It is normal for the engine to be broken, machinery to be damaged. We have to wait until the engine is fixed.

Low-lying rice fields submerged in water

Some low-lying land nearby is flooded. The harvester machine cannot go down to harvest the paddy due to the high water level. The owner of the paddy land is cutting the paddy with a machete after going down into the water and is keeping the cut paddy on banana trees so that it does not get submerged in the water. I spoke to the farmer that this land should be planted with early crops (paddy that can be harvested before the monsoon).

After fixing the engine, we started the rice harvest.

Our harvester engine was fixed. At 1 pm, we lowered the engine back into the paddy field and started threshing the paddy. We had planned to harvest our 3 acres of land today but that will not be possible today due to lack of time. We will harvest as much rice as we can today.

The desired result after 6 months of hard work by the farmer

After harvesting the rice, we are storing the rice on the road next to the land and will sell it from here. Today the weather was positive for the farmers. The Meteorological Department has predicted a cyclone on the 29th, so we have planned to finish our work before that. Our rice land is in three plots. When the rice of one plot was harvested by noon, we moved to the second plot.

Second plot rice harvest begins

The temperature was 32 degrees, but it was a happy weather for us.

My job was to show the rice field and the harvest machine was leaving some rice on the side of the field and cutting that rice in front of the machine. I was continuing my work in this 32 degree temperature. I was drinking water repeatedly in the hot sun. Our harvest machine broke down again like a second time, so we had to stop working for a while.

The rice harvest is over as of today.

Work has started again in the afternoon and we have stopped harvesting our rice as usual by harvesting the second plot today. Our main task now will be to fill this rice in sacks and take it to the roadside because big trucks will not come on this dirt road. We are filling our rice in sacks with some more people. My elder brother has already filled some rice in sacks with his people.

Work is done as of today.

My last job was to bring the rice in sacks and vans to the roadside, then I filled the nets and scattered rice in a small sack on my head and walked back home through the field. After returning home, I took a bath. I worked hard all day. I feel very tired now. I am finishing it today and we are planning to finish it tomorrow.
