Betterlife - The Diary Game |02-03-2025 | "We have started harvesting potatoes for sale from today."

Assalamu Alaikum friends,
March 2nd is the first day of Ramadan in our country and fasting is obligatory for us as Muslims. We have eaten Sehri and fasted. From today, we will harvest our potatoes for sale. The potatoes we harvested earlier are our seed potatoes which we have stored in cold storage for sowing next year. We went to our potato field in the morning and the workers will come directly to the potato field for work.

We are having a total of 45 workers, both men and women, coming to harvest potatoes today. We have brought two oxen to pull the potatoes out of the ground, who are using the plow to plow the potato rows and pull the potatoes out. The workers' job is to collect the potatoes and keep them together. The workers will do the same thing all day today.

All the rows of potatoes cannot be plowed at the same time. Because if they are plowed at the same time, some of the potatoes will be covered under the soil again, so they are plowed one after the other first, and when they are picked up, they are plowed again in the other row. Our job today is to control the workers and see if the potatoes are being picked up properly or if they are being left without potatoes. The workers worked continuously until noon and we gave them a break for lunch. Today, most of the workers are bringing food and eating in the field. We are fasting, so we don't have to worry about food. We only have to pray Zuhr.

The second potato line has started plowing since afternoon and it takes less time to harvest the potatoes in this line because the potatoes from the previous line are being stored. It was my job to talk to the workers and urge them to finish the work quickly.

I am looking at our potatoes and some of them are of unusual size which buyers will not take. I got one potato which is of love shape. Our potato work was finished at 4.30 pm as of today. Our potatoes will be in the field today and will be packed and weighed on the scale the next day.

We counted the number of workers, gave them leave and asked them to come early the next morning. We also returned home, we were very tired from fasting and being in the sun all day. I got home fresh and was waiting for iftar. My nephew was in my lap because the mothers were preparing iftar. We broke our first fast when we heard the Maghrib call to prayer. At night I had to stay in the potato field for some time so that no one would take the potatoes.
