Family stability
Blessings dear community @ChristianFellowship, it is nice to be here, the peace of God be with everyone.
Do you know of any family that, having no firm foundation, collapsed? What do you think could have been the failure of these foundations?
47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you who he is like. 48 Similar is the man who, by building a house, dug and delved and laid the foundation on the rock; and when a flood came, the river beat against that house, but it could not move it, because it was founded on the rock.
49 But he that heard and did not do, is like the man who built his house on the ground, without foundation; against which the river gave a rush, and then fell, and the ruin of that house was great. Luke6: 47-49
Luke 6: 47-49 - In this text, we see two types of people: one who heard and practiced the word, dug deeply and, as a result, was not shaken, and another who listened and did not practice and, without foundation, lived a Great ruin. When someone hears the word and takes action based on what Jesus says, they rest on a solid foundation. And despite the trials, suffering, disappointments, and disappointments that may befall him, he will never be shaken.
Isaiah 33: 5,6 - The Lord is exalted, because he dwells on high; He will fill Zion with justice and righteousness. It will be the firm base in the times to which you belong, a great wealth of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; The fear of the Lord is the key to that treasure.
Proverbs 18:10 - The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to him and are safe.
People are looking for some form of stability. There are those who want professional and financial stability, guaranteeing a secure future for their family. Others also seek family stability to have a home that doesn't fall apart.
Proverbs 1:33 - But whoever hears me will live safely and peacefully, without fear of harm. ”
Jesus taught through Luke 6: 47-49 that what will keep our lives and families stable is the practice of his word. If we listen to what Jesus teaches, we will have the blessing of stability and in this way, neither we, nor our home, nor anything in our lives will faint before the temptations and attacks of the enemy. In order for a person and his family to remain stable, Jesus shows the importance of maintaining a good foundation. The foundations of the Christian faith are simple and basic, but deep and capable of sustaining us against all attacks by the enemy.
Psalm 127: 1 - If the Lord is not the builder of the house, it will be useless to work on the construction. If it is not the Lord who watches over the city, it will be useless for the sentry to stand guard.
According to what we read in this Psalm, if God is not the Lord of the house and if the plans of the person or the family are not the plans of the Lord, those who build it work in vain. We cannot hold God accountable for maintaining our stability or our family if we do not accept his plan for us.
We must always have fundamental practices that keep our home stable, such as always acting with love, fidelity, honor, respect and truth towards everyone. Ask those present to name a few things that are causing couples to separate and families to fall apart.
Ephesians 3:17 - For a family to have true stability, the presence of Jesus must be first in each of us. An unsubstantiated person or family is "lazy", unstable, at the mercy of "winds, rains, and storms", which will come with momentum and without mercy in the form of adversity and trouble. Without the stability that faith and obedience bring us, marriage, for example, can collapse into the smallest disagreements.
The world is full of uncertainties, people live in fear all the time, and it is true that we are living in the "age of fear". However, a person or home that is based on Christ, out of obedience to his word, has no reason to panic, because, as the psalmist says: Psalm 62: 2, He alone is the rock that saves me; he is my safe tower! I will never be shaken!
