My Trip to Kenya: Memories Unforgetteble

in africansonsteem5 days ago (edited)

Although the whole of Africa is full of travel destinations, but when I think about my future trips to Africa, Nigeria, and Egypt are the two places that have been at the top of my wishlist for a long time.

A couple of years ago I was sitting for a long time, about 19 hours, at the Doha airport while I flying from Sydney to Delhi by Katar Airlines. I met an airport official, Mudiwa, who was from Kenya, and she helped me a lot.

During our conversation, she asked me if I was interested in traveling to Kenya to enjoy a safari. I said yes, and she told me about different places in Kenya.

At that time, COVID was going on, so I came back, but I traveled to Kenya last year, and after my trip to Kenya, many of my views changed. First of all, I must say that I have never had any direct business connection with Africa except Zambia, where our company's public call machines were sold until 2005, and I wanted to go there once but couldn't.

My sister spent a few years in Egypt and she invited me to visit Egypt. However, I never had a chance to visit her, so even though she invited me to visit a place that some consider one of the best African countries.

All my life, I have heard things from my colleagues and friends that made me feel that Africans think they are better than us Indians. And as a business executive, I wanted to feel that experience. I wanted to tell them that I am an Indian and I am just like you and ask them their reasons.

Last year, I traveled to Kenya and stayed in Nairobi. I had planned to visit a lot of places, and Mikato Safari was on top of my list.

Let me tell you that before leaving I contacted the airport officer Mudiwa, whose house is in Nairobi, and she had invited me to stay with her parents, which I accepted on the condition that I would stay with them as a paying guest, which she agreed to after a little hesitation.

Soon I became a part of that family in Nairobi. In the beginning, I felt a little hesitant, but when I met Mudiwa's sister Hilda in the evening, who works for a multinational company, and she made my favorite vegetarian Jollof, I felt like she was a nice girl just like her sister.

Then I felt there was no difference between two different cultures—Indian and African—as we both were similar in many ways. This personal experience of mine in Kenya gradually changed my opinion about Africa, and I felt even better.

Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, is a very busy metropolis, but luckily Mikato has a large staff of professional, local workers who are available 24-7. The lack of a safari doubled up, and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Mudiwa talked about Micato Safari during our conversation, and that was on my mind as it offered a wonderful all-covered experience of Kenyan Safaris. I visited three different parks and reserves during this trip to see the Big Five.

My goal was to see as much African wildlife as I could and the better. I also stopped at a Maasai village. I wanted to see more of the famous traditional jumping dance, the Adumu, which is part of the Maasai warrior rites.

My seven-day trip passed without me realizing I spent a week, but it felt as if I had arrived yesterday. I was enjoying seeing new animals every day and connecting with the locals of Kenya. The only problem was that I have been a vegetarian for the last 20 years and 5 months. But I was living an exciting experience to the fullest. I felt that I had traveled so much in my life, and this was completely different from all that. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

That African trip became an unforgettable journey of my life. I also loved this trip because it was a mix of luxury, wilderness, adventure, outdoors, and rural culture—very different from any other trip I've taken before, and with all the attractions I loved in this trip, along with the closeness to an African family that has remained the same, I wish Mudiwa and her family would come to India and stay at my place.

Greetings friend @dove11, what a great experience you had observing closely the culture and wildlife of Kenya, having met Mudiwa by chance, definitely changed the order of things. On those occasions I often say “Things happen for a reason” if you hadn't stayed at his house, met his family and experienced the real culture up close, your opinion would never have been the same. I don't mean better or worse, just different. Travel is an experience to be treasured.

That's true, everything happens for a reason. Had I not met Mudiwa sitting at the Doha airport for long hours waiting for a connecting flight I would have never imagined going to Kenya. Then had I not asked her where to stay in Nairobi, she would have never asked me to stay at his parents' place. So yes, I agree everything happens for a reason. Thanks and regards for your presence on my humble effort.

Traveling is one of the best experiences in life. You were able to travel to Africa and meet people there and share closely with them, and realize that there are not many differences with respect to your country of origin.

Thank you for your participation.

Haha, so you were hooked too 😂I have never traveled to any African country but this is pure fiction. When I write a travel story or visit any country I use my own images and the images I have used in this post are from Pixabay apart from Doha airport which is not in Africa.

There was no space left to use a fiction tag or requirement and to be frank only @marito74 had a hint that this was a fictional story.
Have a nice time.

Yes, I had also thought it was real, but when I read your comment responding to Marito, I edited the comment assuming it is fiction. Good job. It is a story of friendship that I liked, just like that it would be an ideal sharing for me.😊

Even Mariato had given a clear hint. Later Senehasa got the hint too.

I can’t understand how I missed you, as I was also in Kenya those days. Any way, it is a good fiction.

Thanks, but everyone thought it was a real story. You missed me because neither of us went to Africa.

An unforgettable experience, this story seems very real? haha you have convinced me, I like how you narrate in a simple way and that reaches the reader, I could imagine myself at the airport or in the house of that family in Nairobi. MIcato Safari, tremendous experience. A hug, blessings.

Nairobi wow!

Hehe, yes, the fiction should sound real and the real stories might sound fiction. Maybe the images of mine sitting at the airport alone might convince you but then we can always photoshop them! Right 😂

Me encantó leerte. Un abrazo.

Thank you so much, do you know, that I tried to visit Venezuela and enquired about the procedure but it is difficult to get permission to visit your country at least from India. Thanks for visiting my humble effort.

Venezuela es un hermoso país. Ojalá que algún día puedas superar todos esos procedimientos y darte el gusto de venir a estas tierras. Un abrazo.

I know your country is beautiful and I have an invitation too but the travel situation is so hopeless that it's almost impossible to travel. We have flights via the Middle East which has been going through war for the last year or so. I hope things will cool down soon, thank you for your nice words.

Sí, pareciera que los seres humanos estamos jugando al exterminio de la especie. Yo también deseo que todo mejore.

The usual saying that seeing is believing is simply the truth. Thankfully, your visit to the country would have changed one or two perspectives about the people. Anyway, I personally believe that all humans are equally only God is the highest.

Nice to know you had a really beautiful experience, and that Mudiwa's family treated you well. Travelling they say, is part of life, you're welcome to Nigeria already. 😄

That's true, unless you visit and mix with locals you never get the real feel. With the number of friends I have in Nigeria and the place is not too far from my country, I will certainly visit your country. Thanks!

Africa can be a great spot for adventure. Ever since I was a child, I have watched many movies about adventures in Africa, which instilled in me the desire to adventure there.

The great experiences you have shared in your post about traveling to Kenya are really interesting. Especially the subject of jumping dance attracted me more. Because if you like the place and the atmosphere of the place, then it seems to everyone that time passes by quickly. You were no exception. Your 1 week in Kenya was really enjoyable.

That's true, mixing up with locals is the right way of enjoying your pleasure trip.
