Saludos amigos del concurso de macrofotografía. Traigo algunos close ups de una variedad de polilla de la seda, esta se encontraba herida y con un ala principal rota.

Gracias a Google Lens se puede inferir que este insecto pertenece a las polillas o mariposas nocturnas, del genero Rothschildia. Y que su familia es algunos nombres comunes con los que se conoce son: palomilla cuatro espejos
Thanks to Google Lens, we can deduce that this insect belongs to the moths or nocturnal butterflies of the Rothschildia genus. Its family is known by some common names: four-mirror moth.

Son polillas de gran tamaño que pueden llegar hasta los 30 centímetros de envergadura. Esta tenía unos 12 centímetros y un cuerpo rechoncho de 6 centímetros aproximadamente.
They are large moths that can reach a wingspan of up to 30 centimeters. This one was about 12 centimeters long and had a plump body measuring approximately 6 centimeters.

Sus antenas son plumosas y atractivas. Cuerpo muy peludo y se conoce de algunas especies que sueltan estos vellos que pueden ser urticantes o provocar reacciones alérgicas en algunas personas.
Their antennae are feathery and attractive. Their bodies are very hairy, and some species are known to shed these hairs, which can be stinging or cause allergic reactions in some people.

Se les llama Polillas cuatro espejos, pues presentan una parte de sus alas sin colores y transparentes, que reflejan la luz. Quizás como medida de protección y defensa.
They are called four-mirror moths because their wings are colorless and transparent, reflecting light. Perhaps as a protective and defensive measure.
