The farmer is not only happy with the production of paddy, it is also the responsibility of the farmer to thresh, store and market this rice. Every farmer has a cow in his house, that's why proper storage of this paddy straw is also an important job of the farmer. Today we will take out the bamboo from the previous day's cut bamboo and bury this bamboo in the middle of the ground to make a paddy straw pile (punji or pala in local language). 5 of us went to get the bamboo from the bamboo grove. I hurt my leg while climbing bamboo and one part of my leg got swollen.
We took out the bamboo and brought it home, now our task is to dig 4.5 holes in the ground and bury three bamboos together. We started digging the hole and when the hole was finished it was time to put the bamboo in the pile. We put together 4 forces to build this bamboo. I put the bamboo in the hole and buried it very hard with the soil. The bamboo is ready for stacking the straw. Now I will thresh the rice and stack the straw.
Our entire paddy harvest is not yet finished today and the paddy harvested on the first day will start growing from today. I went to the paddy field to see the work of the workers, they will finish harvesting our paddy in a short time. We will tie some paddy ourselves because we are still short of hay. After bringing this rice, I will thresh it and feed it to the cows. I bundled paddy and brought two loads.
The workers went to bring the paddy of the land that was cut on the first day to bind our paddy. I have to stay there now. The work of the workers is to tie the paddy and stack it in one place. We will use a power tiller to bring it home. The hired power tiller is coming in the afternoon to fetch our paddy. They load their car with rice and deliver it to our house. As rent they have to pay us 700 bdt 35 per bigha (33 cents). Today I will take home the paddy of our 4 bigha land and the rest tomorrow.
I'm on the ground because the road has to be dug out to get the car here. As I sit in the field in the afternoon, I see a cat waiting patiently like a hunter near a rat hole in a paddy field to catch a mouse even though my presence disturbs its hunt. When the cat realizes that my presence makes it impossible to catch the mouse because the mouse will not come out of the hole in the presence of a human, the cat leaves.
It was night after we finished taking the rice and I was still in the paddy field. The moon has risen in the sky since evening. Winter is foggy from the evening. Our paddy collection ended at 8 pm. I came home fresh and feeling tired so had dinner and went to bed.
