RE: Justin Sun on the future of AI: Genes, memes, and singularities
Bruce Willis was right with his universally valid saying: ‘I'm too old for this shit!’
I'm not prepared to get used to the idea that not only do I not realise whether I'm talking to a person or a machine, but that I shouldn't even care. No. I'd rather become the infamous crotchety old woman who is indulgently ridiculed by the rest of oh-so-modern humanity.... Until one day they come round and ask me why they're doing so badly.
Seriously: these are the kind of visions that give science fiction literature that cosy shiver of the strange and unreal. In real life, I prefer a return to more organic ways of life. My prediction would be that we will have no other choice in the near future.
I definitely agree about machines that pretend to be people. I don't care if it's a telemarketer on the phone or a fake comment on Steem. I find it offensive when machines masquerade as people. And I can't imagine a scenario where I wouldn't want to know whether I'm interacting with an organic or synthetic entity.
On the other hand, I'd be real hungry real fast if I had to give up my technology-augmented lifestyle. I haven't even grown a garden since I was a young child...
