Cook robot through virtual reality

Technologies mix.

Atom, the robot developed by Dobot Robotics, has just demonstrated that precise telephony is no longer a distant promise. It's a breakthrough that could forever change the way we work, cook, and even explore space.

Atom has 28 degrees of freedom, five-fingered hands and impressive movement accuracy, 0.05 mm, equipped with state-of-the-art sensors, it reproduces every human gesture in real time with movements smooth enough to wipe a steak from a paper towel, pour oil, turn meat, pan and even sprinkle salt, all without anyone being around.

Robot teleworking.

In a recent test, a Wandang engineer controlled the robot in Shangdam using a virtual reality headset, transmitting its movements as if kilometers did not exist. Dobot's teleoperation technology combines mechanical precision, high-speed network and refined control software, to avoid delays that compromise delicate tasks such as turning hot food or operating in dangerous environments, the system maintains a minimum latency essential for the operator to feel that their hands are those of the robot.

For now, the lower part of Atom still operates autonomously or stationary, but the upper part already demonstrates how remote surgeries, nuclear plant maintenance and even the handling of dangerous cargo can become safer when a human controls everything remotely.

This level of remote control redefines what is possible, imagine a team of engineers manipulating robots like Atom inside contaminated zones or astronauts repairing satellites using robotic avatars controlled from Earth.

And in everyday life, human robots could one day perform complex household tasks or help people with reduced mobility, while a family member or even a specialized professional coordinates everything from the other side of the city or the world. On a large scale, this combination of virtual reality, robotics and artificial intelligence has the potential to transform entire sectors of the economy.
