Another battle in the humanoid robot race.

Are you from team USA or team China.

If you are the type of fan of China or the United States who knows that the Americans have just responded to China in the technological race of humanoid robots, now if like me you are neutral and what matters is the technology and not their nationality, let's fill ourselves with knowledge because Boston Dynamics surprised again by revealing its Atlas 2.0 robot executing breakdancing movements that look human and look, I was really impressed to see how this robot moves.

Significant progress every week

On March 19, 2025, Dynamics presented to the world an impressive new ability of Atlas, breakdancing complex and natural movements, at least natural for a machine, no!, the place of the simple tasks that he already mastered such as lifting boxes and assembling parts or twisting like in the movie The Exorcist, Atlas now exhibits fluid dance movements, executing quick turns, agile transitions and movements that require perfect control of balance and pinpoint precision and it is really very exciting to see how Technology advances almost week by week.

Seeing all this progress it is impossible not to imagine darker scenarios between China and the United States where these robots battle in the future, but that is a topic for another episode, in this one we will focus on the good applications of our beloved technology.

The new technology

The great innovation of the Atlas lies in the use of reinforcement learning, an artificial intelligence technique where the robot learns by trial and error, without the need for detailed and fixed instructions, experiments, evaluates its own results and adjusts its behavior automatically.

Another great differentiator is the use of human motion capture. Atlas is trained with data captured from real people, absorbing subtle nuances such as balance, weight distribution and transitions between movements. Combining these two methods, Atlas manages to execute extremely complex movements with a smoothness and fluidity that seem to be becoming the new normal in humanoid robots.

Thanks to the collaboration between Boston Dynamics and the Robotics Institute, Atlas has become capable of operating in unpredictable environments by adapting to sudden changes. Sowski's Matrix autonomy system is responsible for these advanced abilities, allowing Atlas to make quick and intelligent decisions in real time autonomously, that is, without being controlled by a human. Bosson Dynamics believes that soon its robots will be able to operate in unpredictable real-world environments such as construction sites, hospitals, or even critical emergency situations.

The dispute for technological supremacy between the United States and China I have just written a new chapter, what do you think, do you think this puts the United States back in front in the technological race or China continues one step ahead and in the military field.
