On June 14, 1783, the third and most violent explosive eruption of the laki volcano occurred, located in Iceland, whose activity began on June 8 and continued for eight months, in Iceland the earth literally opened, because the laki did not shows the typical image of the volcano with a mountain with a crater on top that ejects lava.

Experts estimate that this event directly or indirectly killed some 6 million people and plunged European peasants into misery, historians believe that the situation was one of the engines that set fire to the French Revolution.

This laki eruption was not the first nor will it be the last, Iceland is an island with a surface area of just over 100,000 square kilometers that is similar to the surface of Cuba or Guatemala, it was created by volcanic action on the mid-Atlantic ridge, which is a huge crack that runs through the Atlantic Ocean from which that ocean is expanding.
