Mercury goes into retrograde motion

The planets rotate around the sun, but at different speeds, the fastest is Mercury, in fact, in ancient times it was so fast that they called it the messenger of the gods and the slowest is Neptune, from the perspective of the Earth we see from time to time as if the planets stopped in the sky and moved backwards, and from March 15 to April 7 Mercury goes into retrograde motion. We are going to see three phases of retrogradation throughout the year.

In the video we can clearly see those three phases of retrogradation which is a visual effect that occurs from here on Earth, you see the line of sight of the Earth and the movement of Mercury, Mercury is making its normal revolution around the Sun calmly, but from the Earth we see it as if it were doing strange things, from time to time it seems to stop and turn back and that is something that caused concern in the past, I admit, in the past they could interpret it in another more disturbing way.

Keep in mind that for the vast majority of our ancestors the stars were in the upper world, in the world of the gods, the constellations formed drawings that were the emblem of a hero or recounted an event, the sun and the moon served to mark time, the phases of the moon allowed longer time cycles to be measured, for example, and the planets with their ability to move between the stars were identified with the gods themselves.

That one of those gods reached a constellation and stopped and began to walk backwards was interpreted as the omen of an evil event or something abnormal or that something tremendous was going to happen, because it was as if the God, that planet God, upon reaching the territory of that constellation of some mythological hero or some event from the past, was afraid or went crazy or decided to flee from that place and that is how they thought and interpreted that strange trajectory.

But you see that it is simply the point of view that we have from our planet, although we must recognize that this retrogradation that was so worrying in the past was very useful in the Copernican revolution, since later by placing the sun in the center of the solar system the entire calculation system that existed of epicycles was suddenly simplified, of making calculations of the geocentric model and finally Copernicus managed to give an easy and clear explanation of what we were seeing with mercury.

By the way, the geocentric model with the Earth at the center of the universe and with everything else revolving around it is the one that astrologers still have to make their calculations, it is tremendous.
