This talented Mexican painter was born in Coyoacán on July 6, 1907. She is the daughter of German immigrant Guillermo Kahlo, a photographer by profession, and Matilde Calderón, a native of Mexico.

As a child, she began to suffer from many illnesses. At the age of six, he suffered from polio, which significantly weakened his right leg. That is why his childhood was away from contact with other children and children's games.

In 1922 he enrolled in the National Preparatory School of Mexico City, with the purpose of studying Medicine. She was one of 35 women in the institution out of a total of two thousand students. At that time he began to interact with a group of boys who had libertarian ideas who were called "Los cachuchas", because of the hats they wore.

At the age of 29, he suffered a serious accident when he was on a bus that was hit by a tram; This left her with multiple fractures, which is why she underwent several surgical operations.

After the accident and the compulsory rest to which she was subjected, Frida began to paint.

When he managed to half recover from the injuries of the accident, he began to frequent political, artistic and intellectual circles that shared communist ideologies. It was precisely in this environment that she met Diego Rivera, with whom she married twice; the first on August 21, 1929. At that time Diego was 43 years old and Frida 22. Their marriage lasted until 1939. And a year after they divorced, in 1940 they remarried until her death on July 13, 1954 . The relationship between Frida and Diego Rivera broke the social schemes of the time.
