Arohi Returns to the River

The river was calm as always. Lush green forests surrounded it. In the center of river the water was as clear as a mirror. The sky and the trees were reflected on it, becoming one. Meanwhile, Arohi was sitting in the boat, joining those soft pieces of cotton carefully.

Today seemed something different to arohi. This river, this forest, this silence—she knew it all. But today, she was feeling something different inside her. When she was a child, her father brought her to this beautiful river. He would say: “Water is life, and a river never goes back. People are like rivers. If we stop, we fall behind.” Arohi at that time did not know these words. But today, she did.

Life had changed over the last couple of months. The hustle and bustle of the city, the endless competition, the complex relationships—it all felt too much. So she returned to her safe space—the river.

The water underneath the boat was cold and clear, and she was careful to touch it just with her feet, causing the boat to sway slightly. She looked at the water and felt shocked. Another Arohi was staring back at her. Was she still the same person? Or had time changed her?

A number of children were playing near the river. Their laughter filled with air, making the water sparkle with joy. It recalled her own childhood. She hadn’t laughed like that in so long.

Arohi slowly closed her eyes. The soft wind washed over her face, and it seemed that the river was saying, “Come back. Find yourself.”

She took a deep breath. It was time to return and rebuild. Perhaps, like the river, she couldn’t stop moving. But she sometimes had to go back to this tranquil place—this stillness, where all tiredness could melt away.

Me encantó leerte. Gracias por estar. Un abrazo.
