Token Redenomination
The token is a cryptocurrency created by a blockchain project that is used to represent the performance of the project, if the token value of a project increases in price, it can be concluded that many people are interested in the token because the project is considered good, whereas if the value decreases then people will assume that the project of the token is not good.
But sometimes there is a project that has a very good success rate so that the tokens that are made are in great demand by many people and automatically because the very large demand makes the token experience a high price increase and makes investors who only have small capital unable to buy. to invest in the token. In order to solve this problem, there is a way that the owner/developer of the token can do, this method is called "Token Redomination".
Redenomination is a word that comes from English which means simplification of currency without reducing the value contained in the currency. Redenomination is a decision taken by the dealer or who controls a currency to increase buying and selling power with that currency if in the case of fiat currency the party who can make the decision to redenomination of fiat currency is the central bank that issued the currency.
In real life, there have been several incidents where the state predominates its fiat currency, which is usually done when there is inflation which causes the value of goods and services to soar and people's purchasing power also decreases because only people who have a lot of money can make buying and selling transactions. To increase the purchasing power of the people in the country, the central bank can redo the fiat currency so that the economy can run smoothly.
This also happens to cryptocurrencies, when token experiences a very high price increase, the transaction power or liquidity in the token will decrease, because as in the case of fiat currency, only people who have a lot of capital can make purchases at the token, while retail investors cannot participate in investing. Therefore, the developer of the token project can redo the token so that the price of the token can be cheaper and can reach other retail investors.
Token Redenomination Impacts
There are several things that will happen when the token redenomination process is successfully implemented, these include:
Investors Are Coming
The first impact that is most felt when token redenomination is carried out is the arrival of small investors in large numbers, as I discussed earlier that one of the purposes of token redenomination is to absorb small investors who do not have large amounts of capital. but interested in the project is done.
With the arrival of these investors, the project will get new fresh funds that can be used to develop ongoing projects to the next stage.
Token Market Becomes More Liquid
If we think again, why would a project developer go to great lengths to try to attract small investors, wouldn't it be better to look for big investors? The question is not wrong, but a bit inaccurate.
If a cryptocurrency market is only controlled by a few parties, then the transaction process that occurs in that market will not develop or it will stagnate, this is because the number of people who make offers to buy and sell on the cryptocurrency market is only a few and tends to be the same people.
Therefore, it would be better if the number of people involved in cryptocurrency market transactions had a large value so that there was a price bargaining so that the market would be more liquid.
Token Market Cap is Increasing
Market capitalization is a value that is often used by investors to see how good and attractive a cryptocurrency is, if the market capitalization value of a cryptocurrency has a large value, it can be concluded that the cryptocurrency is good, whereas if the market capitalization value is small, then it is would be of less value for a cryptocurrency.
The market capitalization value itself affects how many people are interested in a cryptocurrency. So if the number of investors buying a cryptocurrency increases, the market capitalization value of the cryptocurrency will also increase, this is in line with the law of Demand and Supply.
If a cryptocurrency redenominates it's token and succeeds in attracting investors to invest in the token, then the market capitalization value will also increase so that it will be an added value for the token project.
Project Ecosystem Grows
As I discussed earlier, redenominating tokens increases the likelihood that a project will get additional capital from new investors. This will also affect the ecosystem of the token project. Usually, when a project will redo tokens, they will also make new additions to the project, this is to convince investors that the project will continue to grow and will not stop there, and the project will run when the funds are fresh later already obtained.
Token Redenomination and Stock Split
Maybe those of you who are familiar with investing in the stock market have heard of the term "Stock Split". Stock split is a term that exists in the stock market where a company that has made an IPO splits its company's shares in a certain ratio.
Many people think that the redenomination of tokens in cryptocurrencies is an adaptation of the stock split in stocks. Because both of them are an activity to break the number of assets they have into more so that the supply value increases and both are shown to increase the asset liquidity value.
I personally also think that token redenomination and stock split are very similar things, both are planned by the developers and decided by investors. What distinguishes these two things is that the stock split is proposed by the company at the general meeting of shareholders, then the investors who attend the meeting will vote whether to approve the stock split.
Meanwhile, token redenomination is proposed first by the project developer, usually through an open letter to investors, then the investor will read the letter which will contain details regarding the purpose of token redenomination and what new steps are being prepared by the developer. token holders of the project will be given the right to vote to determine what ratio will be used for this token redenomination.
Examples of Redenomination Tokens
Until now there have been many tokens that have been redenominated and one of these tokens is a token that is on the Tron Blockchain named "Sun Token". The Sun Token is a token launched by a platform called "Sun.io" which is a platform that provides a place for liquidity mining, this platform runs on the TRON blockchain.
On June 4, 2021, Justin Sun who is the founder of the Tron Blockchain circulated an open letter to members of the SUN community which was uploaded through the Tron Foundation account on the Medium platform and also on Justin Sun's personal Twitter account.
In the letter, he informed the community that there would be a plan to redo the token from the Sun.io platform, namely Sun Token with a ratio of 1:1000 which means that there will be an increase in the supply of SUN tokens that were originally 19,900,730 to 19,900,730,000. This is done with the aim of minimizing investment barriers that occur due to the high price of SUN tokens before redenomination and if this can be realized it will increase the growth of the Sun platform ecosystem.
According to Justin Sun, the current capitalization of SUN tokens is still very low at $500 million when compared to its competitor Curve, which has a market capitalization of $5.8 billion. According to him, the Sun Token is still very undervalued by only having such a large market capitalization, whereas, with everything that the SUN platform has, such as a strong ecosystem, high scalability, etc. The SUN Token should be able to have a larger market capitalization.
At the time of the redenomination of SUN tokens, there will be some changes made to the Sun.io platform. The first thing is to change the name of the old SUN token to "SUNOLD" and the name of the "SUN" token will be used by the redenominated SUN token. Then there will be a change in the logo of the SUN token which you can see in the picture beside.
Then there will be a change in the contract address where the new SUN Token will be used, from TKkeiboTkxXKJpbmVFbv4a8ov5rAfRDMf9 to TSSMHYeV2uE9qYH95DqyoCuNCzEL1NvU3S.
In addition to token redenomination, the Sun platform has also made several improvements to the features offered to make users more comfortable using this platform. The features offered include:
- Stablecoin Swap feature.
- Liquidity Mining with several types: 3pool LP, SUN-TRX LP, SUN Stake, and SUN Stake&Lock.
- Airdrop of SUN tokens for veCRV holders.
Swap SUNOLD to SUN Through Justswap
Now I will show you how to swap from SUNOLD token to SUN token using JustSwap on a laptop.
Step 1
First, visit the official page of JustSwap and connect your Tron wallet with JustSwap, all you have to do is log in to your wallet.
Step 2
After you have successfully logged in, your wallet will automatically be connected to JustSwap, to check it you can click the icon shown by the red box on the left side of the page, then it will be shown that your Trolink Wallet is connected to JustSwap.
Step 3
To swap SUNOLD tokens with SUN tokens, we will use a feature on the left side of the JustSwap page called "SUN Swap". This feature was created specifically to expedite the SUN Token redenomination process.
Step 4
After that, there will be a new page that will look like in the image below. We fill in the amount of SUNOLD that we will swap in the first column, here I will swap 1.2 SUNOLD. Then in the second column, it will be shown how many SUN tokens we will get, because I swap 1.2 SUNOLD then I will get 1200 SUN. To continue we just click "Confirm Swap".
Step 5
After that, a pop-up will appear asking for our approval to process the SUN token swap transaction.
Step 6
Then another pop-up will appear that will ask us to sign a contract that will be carried out. We just click "Sign" to continue.
Step 7
Then 2 different pop-ups will appear. The first pop-up will tell us that the transaction we want has been entered and is in the validation process after that another pop-up will appear telling us that our swap transaction has been confirmed.
Step 8
Then I checked my wallet to see if the SUN token I exchanged had entered or not.
Yep, the SUN Token that I swapped earlier has successfully entered to my Tron wallet.
This SUNOLD Token Swap process to SUN Token requires a fee. If we look at the transaction details via Tronscan, it will be shown that the swap I did consume 313 bandwidth and 53,972 energy and because my energy was not enough, the energy was replaced by burning my Tron of 7.556 TRX.
Conclusion
Token redenomination is a step that can be used by project developers to improve the quality of the projects they make, with this token redenomination it will also allow other small investors who do not have large capital to participate in good projects without having to be afraid. not sufficient capital.
Although token redenomination provides many benefits, it does not mean that we as investors are starting to be careless about all possibilities. We must continue to monitor the progress of the projects we invest in regularly so that we can avoid scams and rug pulls that often occur in the cryptocurrency world.

Token merupakan suatu cryptocurrency yang ddibuat oleh sebuah proyek blockchain yang digunakan untuk mempersentasikan kinerja dari proyek tersebut, jika nilai token dari sebuah proyek mengalami kenaikan harga maka bisa disimpulkan bahwa banyak orang yang tertarik dengan token tersebut karena proyeknya dianggap bagus, sedangkan jika nilainya menurun maka orang akan mengganggap bahwa proyek dari token tersebut tidak bagus.
Tapi terkadang ada sebuah proyek yang memiliki ingkat kesuksesann yang sangat bagus sehingga token yang dibuatnya sangat diminati oleh banyak orang dan otomatis karena permintaan yang sangat besar membuat token tersebut mengakami kenaikan harga yang tinggi dan membuat investor-investor yang hanya memiliki modal kecil tidak bisa ikut membeli untuk berinvestasi pada token tersebut. Agar bisa menyelesaikan masalah ini, ada sebuah cara yang bisa dilakukan oleh pemilik/pengembang dari token tersebut, cara ini disebut dengan ”Redenominasi Token”.
Redenominasi merupakan sebuah kata yang berasal dari bahasa inggris yang berarti penyerdehanaan mata uang tanpa mengurangi nilai yang dikandung pada mata uang tersebut. Redenominasi merupakan sebuah keputusan yang diambil oleh pihak pengedar atau yang mengontrol sebuah mata uang untuk meningkatkan daya jual beli dengan mata uang tersebut, jika pada kasus mata uang fiat maka pihak yang bisa mengambil keputusan untuk redenominasi mata uang fiat adalah bank sentral yang mengeluarkan mata uang tersebut.
Pada kehidupan nyata sudah ada beberapa kejadian dimana negara melakukan redenominasi mata uang fiatnya, hal ini biasanya dilakukan saat ada terjadi inflasi yang menyebabkan nilai barang dan jasa melambung dan daya beli masyarakat pun ikut menurun karena hanya orang yeang memiliki uang banyak yang bisa melakukan transaksi jual beli. Untuk meningkatkan kembali daya beli masyarakat pada negara tersebut, pihak bank sentral bisa melakukan redenominasi mata uang fiat agar perekonomian bisa berjalan dengan lancar.
Hal ini juga terjadi pada cryptocurrency, disaat sebuah token mengalami peningkatan harga yang sangat tinggi, maka daya transaksi atau likuiditas yang ada pada token tersebut akan mengalami penurunan, karena seperti pada kasus mata uang fiat tadi hanya orang yang memiliki modal banyak yang bisa melakukan pembelian pada token tersebut, sedangkan investor-investor ritel tidak bisa ikut berpartisipasi untuk ikut berinvestasi. Oleh karena itu, pihak pengembang dari proyek token tersebut bisa melakukan redenominasi token agar harga dari token tersebut bisa lebih murah dan bisa menjangkau investor-investor ritel lainnya.
Dampak-Dampak Redenominasi Token
Ada beberapa hal yang akan terjadi saat proses redenominasi token berhasil dilaksanakan, hal-hal tersebut antara lain:
Investor Berdatangan
Dampak pertama yang paling dirasakan saat redenominasi token dilakukan adalah datangnya para investor-investor kecil dalam jumlah yang banyak, seperti yang sudah saya bahs sebelumnya bahwa salah satu tujuan dilakukannya redenominasi token adalah untuk menyerap para investor-investor kecil yang tidak memiliki modal dalam jumlah yang besar tetapi tertarik dengan proyek yang dilakukan.
Dengan berdatangnya para investor-investor ini akan membuat proyek mendapatkan dana segar baru yang bisa digunakan untuk mengembangkan proyek yang sedang berjalan ke tahap selanjutnya.
Pasar Token Menjadi Semakin Likuid
Jika kita berfikir ulang, buat apa sih seorang pengembang proyek bersusah payah untuk mencoba menarik para investor-investor kecil, bukankah lebih baik mencari investor besar? Pertanyaan tersebut tidaklah salah, tetapi agak kurang tepat.
Jika sebuah pasar cryptocurrency hanya dikuasai oleh beberapa pihak saja, maka proses transaksi yang terjadi pada pasar tersebut tidak akan berkembang alais ia akan stagnan, hal ini dikarenak jumlah orang yang melakukan penawaran jual dan beli pada market cryptocurrency tersebut hanya sedikit dan cenderung orang yang sama.
Oleh karena itu, akan lebih baik jika jumlah orang yang terlibat pada transaksi market cryptocurrency memiliki nilai yang besar, sehingga ada terjadi tawar menawar harga sehingga market akan lebih likuid.
Kapitalisasi Pasar Token Semakin Meningkat
Kapitalisasi pasar merupakan sebuah nilai yang sering digunakan oleh para investor untuk melihat seberapa bagus dan menarik sebuah cryptocurrency, jika nilai kapitalisasai pasar sebuah cryptocurrency memiliki nilai yang besar maka bisa disimpulkan bahwa cryptocurrency tersebut bagus, sedangkan sebalikya jika nilai kapitalisasi pasar yang dimiliki kecil, maka itu akan menjadi nilai kurang bagi sebuah cryptocurrency.
Nilai kapitalisasi pasar sendiri berpengaruh atas seberapa banyak orang yang tertarik dengan sebuah cryptocurrency. Maka jika jumlah investor yang membeli sebuah cryptocurrency mengalami peningkatan maka nilai kapitalisasi pasar cryptocurrency tersebut akan ikut meningkat, hal ini seiring dengan hukum Demand dan Supply.
Jika sebuah cryptocurrency melakukan redenominasi token dan berhasil menarik investor-investor untuk berinvestasi pada token tersebut, maka nilai kapitalisasi pasar pun akan ikut naik sehingga akan menjadi nilai tambah bagi proyek token tersebut.
Ekosistem Proyek Bertumbuh
Seperti yang sudah saya bahas sebelumnya bahwa dengan melakukan redenominasi token maka akan meningkatkan kemungkinan sebuah proyek akan mendapatkan modal tambahan dari investor-investor baru. Hal ini juga akan mempengaruhi ekosistem dari proyel token tersebut. Biasanya saat sebuah proyek akan melakukan redenominasi token, maka mereka juga akan melakukan penambahan-penambahan baru pada proyeknya, hal ini untuk menyakinkan para investornya bahwa proyek tersebut akan terus berkembang dan tidak akan berhenti samapai disitu saja, dan proyek tersebut akan berjalan saat dana segar nanti sudah sudah didapatkan.
Redenominasi Token dan Stock Split
Mungkin kalian yang sudah familiar dengan investasi pada pasar saham sudah pernah mendengar istilah "Stock Split". Stock split merupakan istilah yang ada pada pasar saham dimana sebuah perusahaan yang telah melakukan IPO melakukan pemecahan lembar saham perusahaannya dalam rasio tertentu.
Banyak orang yang mengganggap bahwa redenominasi token yang ada di cryptocurrency merupakan saduran dari stock split yang ada di saham. Karena keduanya sama-sama merupakan sebuah kegiatan untuk memecahkan jumlah aset yang mereka miliki menjadi lebih banyak sehingga nilai suplai menjadi lebih meningkat dan sama-sama ditunjukkan agar bisa meningkatkan nilai likuiditas aset.
Saya pribadi juga mengganggap bahwa redenominasi token dan stock split merupakan hal yang sangat mirip, keduanya sama-sama direncanakan oleh pihak pengembang dan diputuskan oleh para investor. Yang membedakan kedua hal ini adalah stock split diajukan oleh pihak perusahaan pada rapat umum pemegang saham, lalu para investor yang menghadiri rapat tersebut akan melakukan voting apakah menyetujui stock split tersebut.
Sedangkan untuk redenominasi token diajukan pertama kali oleh pihak pengembang proyek biasanya melalui surat terbuka untuk para investor, lalu investor akan membaca surat tersebut yang akan berisikan detail-detail mengenai tujuan redenominasi token dan langkah-langkah baru apa yang sedang disiapkan oleh pihak pengembang tersebut, lalu para holder token dari proyek tersebut akan diberikan hak untuk melakukan voting untuk menenutukan seberapa besar rasio yang akan digunakan pada redenominasi token ini.
Contoh Token Yang MelakukanRedenominasi
Sampai saat ini sudah ada banyak token-token yang sudah melakukan redenominasi dan salah satu dari semua token tersebut merupakan token yang berada didalam Blockchain Tron yang bernama "Sun Token". Token Sun merupakan sebuah token yang diluncurkan oleh paltform yang bernama "Sun.io" yang merupakan sebuah platform yang menyediakan tempat untuk liquidity mining, platform ini berjalan pada blockchain TRON.
Pada tanggal 4 Juni 2021, Justin Sun yang merupakan pendiri dari Blockchain Tron mengedarkan sebuah surat terbuka bagi para anggota komunitas SUN yang diupload melalui akun Tron Foundation pada platform Medium dan juga pada akun twitter pribadi Justin Sun.
Pada suratnya tersebut ia memberitahukan kepada komunitas bahwa akan ada rencana untuk melakukan redenominasi token dari platform Sun.io yaitu Sun Token dengan rasio 1:1000 yang berarti akan terjadi penambahan suplai dari token SUN yang awalnya 19.900.730 menjadi 19.900.730.000. Hal ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meminimalisirkan hambatan investasi yang terjadi akibat mahalnya harga token SUN sebelum redenominasi dan jika hal tersebut bisa terealisasikan akan meningkatkan pertumbuhan dari ekosistem platform Sun.
Menurut Justin Sun, kapitalisasi yang dimiliki oleh token SUN pada saat ini masih sangat rendah yaitu pada angka $ 500 juta jika dibandingkan dengan kompetitornya yaitu Curve yang memiliki kapitalisasi pasar sebesar $5,8 miliar. Menurutnya hal Token Sun masih sangat undervalue dengan hanya memiliki kapialisasai pasar sebesar itu, sedangkan dengan segala hal yang dimiliki oleh platform SUN seperti ekosistem yang sudah kuat, skalabilitas tinggi, dll seharusnya Token SUN bisa memiliki kapitalisasi pasar yang lebih besar.
Pada saat redenominasi token SUN, akan ada beberapa perubahan yang dilakukan pada platform Sun.io. Hal pertama adalah mengubah nama token SUN yang lama menjadi "SUNOLD" dan nama token "SUN" akan digunakan oleh token SUN yang sudah diredenominasi. Lalu akan ada pergantian logo dari token SUN yang bisa kalian lihat pada gambar disamping.
Lalu akan ada pergantian alamat kontrak yang akan digunakan Token SUN yang baru, dari awalnya TKkeiboTkxXKJpbmVFbv4a8ov5rAfRDMf9 menjadi TSSMHYeV2uE9qYH95DqyoCuNCzEL1NvU3S.
Selain melakukan redenominasi token, platform Sun juga melakukan beberapa peningkatan pada fitur yang ditawarkan agar membuat penggunanya semakin betah untuk memakai platform ini. Fitur-fitur yang ditawarkan antara lain:
- Fitur Swap Stablecoin.
- Liquidity Mining dengan beberapa tipe: 3pool LP, SUN-TRX LP, SUN Stake dan SUN Stake&Lock.
- Airdrop token SUN untuk pemegang veCRV.
Melakukan Swap SUNOLD Menjadi SUN Melalui Justswap
Sekarang saya akan memperlihatkan bagaimana cara melakukan swap dari token SUNOLD menjadi token SUN menggunakan JustSwap melalui laptop.
Langkah 1
Pertama, kujungi halaman resmi dari JustSwap dan hubungkan Tron wallet yang kalian miliki dengan JustSwap, caranya kalian tinggal melakukan login kedalam wallet kalian terlebih dahulu.
Langkah 2
Setelah kalian berhasil login maka otomatis wallet kalian akan terhubung dengan JustSwap, untuk mengeceknya kalian bisa mengklik ikon yang ditunjukkan kotak merah yang ada di pinggir kiri halaman, lalu akan diperlihatkan bahwa Trolink Wallet kalian sudah terhubung dengan JustSwap.
Langkah 3
Untuk melakukan swap token SUNOLD dengan token SUN, kita akan menggunakan sebuah fitur yang ada dibagian kiri halaman JustSwap yang bernama "SUN Swap". Fitur ini memang dibuat khusus untuk melancarkan proses redenominasi Token SUN.
Langkah 4
Setelah itu akan ada halaman bari yang akan tampak seperti pada gambar dibawah. Kita isi jumlah SUNOLD yang akan kita swap pada kolom pertama, disini saya akan menukarkan 1.2 SUNOLD. Lalu pada kolom kedua akan diperlihatkan berapa banyak token SUN yang akan kita dapatkan, karena saya menukarkan 1.2 SUNOLD maka saya akan mendapatkan 1200 SUN. Untuk melanjutkannya kita tinggal klik "Confirm Swap".
Langkah 5
Setelah itu akan muncul pop-up yang akan meminta persetujuan kita untuk melakukan proses transaksi swap token SUN.
Langkah 6
Lalu akan muncul pop-up lainnya yang akan meminta kita untuk menandatangani kontrak yang akan dilakukan. Kita tinggal klik "Sign" untuk melanjutkannya.
Langkah 7
Kemudian akan munucul 2 pop-up yang berbeda. Pop-up pertama akan memberitahu kita bahwa transaksi yang kita inginkan sudah dimasukkan dan sedang dalam proses validasi, setelah itu akan muncul pop-up lainnya yag memberitahu bahwa transkasi swap yang kita lakukan sudah dikonfirmasi.
Langkah 8
Kemudian saya mengecek wallet untuk melihat apakah token SUN yang saya tukarkan sudah masuk apa belum.
Yap, Token SUN yang saya swap sebelumnya sudah berhasil masuk ke dalam wallet Tron saya.
Proses Swap Token SUNOLD ke Token SUN ini memerlukan biaya. Jika kita melihat detail transaksi melalui Tronscan maka akan diperlihatkan bahwa swap yang saya lakukan mengonsumsi Bandwidth sebanyak 313 dan energy sebanyak 53.972 dan karena energy saya tidak cukup maka energy tersebut digantikan dengan membakar token Tron saya sebanyak 7,556 TRX.
Kesimpulan
Redenominasi token merupakan sebuah langkah yang bisa digunakan oleh para pengembang sebuah proyek untuk meningkatkan kualitas dari proyek yang dibuatnya, denga adanya redenominasi token ini pun akan membuat para investor-investor kecil lainnya yang belum mempunyai modal besar bisa ikut berpartisipasi pada proyek yang bagus tanpa harus takut tidak mencukupi modal yang besar.
Walaupun redenominasi token banyak memberikan manfaa, bukan berati kita sebagai investor mulai lengah terhadap segala kemungkinan. Kita harus terus memantau perkembangan dari proyek yang kita investasikan dengan teratur, agar kita bisa menghindari scam dan rugpull yang sering terjadi pada dunia cryptocurrency.
