Pigeon breeds: There are about 20 different breeds of pigeons in Bangladesh. Notable varieties are Giribaj, Roller Lotan, Jalali, Gola and Siraj. Exotic breeds are King, Fantail, Jacobin, Mookie, Tipler, Frillback and Galati Roller. Note that any breed can be used for pigeon rearing according to availability. Pigeon diet: A balanced diet of pigeons needs to contain sugars, fats, carbs, minerals and various vitamins. Such a balanced balanced diet will contain 15-16% crude protein. Metabolic energy should be 2500-2600 calories per kg of food. Moreover pure water should be provided in sufficient quantity. Usually a pigeon eats one tenth of its body weight daily. Pigeons usually eat grains like paddy, wheat, mosquito net, khesari, pea, maize, mustard, various pulses etc. Before releasing the pigeons in the field, prepare a mixture of wheat, kalai and mustard and feed it at the rate of 20 grams daily.
Oyster shells, lime, limestone, hard wood charcoal powder, bone powder, salt are mixed and fed to make grit mixture for rapid growth of pigeons, hardening of bones and nutrition and for strengthening of pigeon and egg shells of adult pigeons. In addition, some raw vegetables should be fed to the pigeon every day.

Cholera green or yellow diarrhea occurs, body temperature rises, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, water thirst increases. Tramycin capsules, Cusumin plus capsules should be taken in 3 parts 3 times a day for 2-3 days. Renaquin or Sultix should be used in any one of the mouths.
