Painful walk down the Memory lane...

It was 15 minutes past eleven in the morning when Ria trudged down the staircase, tiredness evident on her face.

“I'm done with the chores” she softly said to her sister-in-law, not believing the sound of her own voice.
Unfortunately the pitiful voice did not even rouse any emotion from the other lady as she scoffed at the unkempt figure of Ria instead.

“Follow me” the in-laws said; more like commanded while Ria followed to the kitchen. She had no choice, she was starving and tired after doing so much since she'd gotten up. No chores, no food; that was the rule laid down for her in the house.

She stretched forth her plate while Freya scrapped the remainder of the breakfast, all gathering a miserly amount of food on her plate.
It was ridiculous. But who cares? Definitely not Freya as she walked away thereafter. With a sigh, Ria made her way up to her bedroom, slumping down the door after shutting it behind her. She was careful not to pour the food away though.

She couldn't believe she would ever be begging for food. In her own house. Yeah, she owned the house but she'd given Spencer the documents of all her properties out of love, and that man had used her action against her. Hes not to be blamed though, her own nemesis was catching up to her.

3 years ago, she'd definitely had woken up to breakfast in bed. without any conditions as Clement would not even allow her touch the kitchen's napkin talk less of doing the dishes and cleaning the whole house. Her former marriage was bliss until she cheated on Clement with Spencer. What was she even thinking?

It didn't end there, instead of trying to appeal to the wronged man, she crazily sought for a divorce with him, making sure the alimony stands and that was how she was able to accumulate a few fortunes.
Spencer had supported her, more like monitored her, making sure she got separated from the man with a few properties to her names.

What happened after the successful divorce? He made her transfer all properties to his name in the name of helping her manage them. Ha! Hadn't she been so dumb?
And now he'd turned against her.

As if scorning and ignoring her presence at home wasn't enough, he had the audacity to cheat on her with the money. What Clement wouldn't do; he would not even glance at other women more than necessary.
Buying her gifts was like a die hard habit to him, but she wouldn't believe she'd been wearing the same set of clothes for the past three years in Spencer's home.
Spencer was never stingy to her in the beginning, or perhaps he was hiding his true feelings from her. He hated her all along, and only used her for the money. But the vile man would give his sister and mother money every now and then.

Then again, who was she to judge? Her covetous and uncontended self had made her make stupid decisions. So unreasonable!

Getting back on her feet and getting a job would have been the right thing to do if only her mean husband had not confiscated her resumé. But either he likes it or not, she would definitely get her hands back on them then the next steps would follow. It would take time though. But she's patient enough.
And she'd be tolerant enough and not rouse any suspicion or get kicked out before she gets what she wants. She doesn't know why and does not care but for the past two years Spencer doesn't seem to have the intention of divorcing her. Was he waiting for her to pack her bags instead? Ha! Dream on. Hopefully, he continues to ignore the idea of divorce between them.

“Hey! I'm hungry. Come out and make something for me!”

Freya's voice rang out from the other side of the door…
