Becoming...

Today, I chose growth over comfort.

Tuesday, 17 June 2025

I woke up this morning with a strong desire to crush all my set goals. A mentor once told me that if you wish to achieve your goals and desires, you must learn to step out of your comfort zone and embrace new experiences. But the truth is that doing this has not been quite easy for me.

So, after going through my morning routine, making breakfast and tending the garden, I moved into my work corner. Even though I like its minimalist setup, I usually prefer working outdoors. As it gives me a chance to interact with people and nature.

Work time!

Today, I planned to edit and upload my diary game for Monday, engage with other authors, then read a book before stepping out to get some stationery items. I was only able to get the first two tasks done before sleep took over.

By the time I woke up, my device had run down to 10%. It took the speed of light to plug it into the socket. For context, we live in the Band A area where there is constant electricity for at least 16 hours daily. Recently, the control station developed a fault, so it's natural to get anxious that it might trip off at any time.

And oh, was my instinct not right! 🤦🏽‍♀️

All the same, while the device charged, I picked up a copy of Michelle Obama's "Becoming", a book I borrowed from a library close by. Page by page, I got engulfed with the inspiring memoir.

What deeply resonates with me is Michelle's personal story of her experience with her family, neighbourhood and the White House. In the few chapters I have read, I am reminded of the importance of resilience, grace, and determination. Growth comes when we marry these three together.

Later in the afternoon, I had my lunch. It filled my tummy at that moment but I started craving for more later. Had to stop by the stationery and provision stores.

Yummy!😋

In the remaining part of the day, I dedicated time to responding to online messages. Then I did some writing and proofreading for some clients. Did some extra work just to test your long I can persevere. I'm grateful for the opportunities to learn, grow and earn through solving people's problems.

There is a saying that every new day as another opportunity to become a better version of yourself. Hence, I'm committed to stepping outside of my comfort zone and embracing challenges. With hard work, dedication, and a positive mindset, we can achieve anything we set your mind to. Just like Michelle did.
