yes, a replacement battery for my 5 year old laptop doesn't make sense too. I'd think if the power is plugged in, then it should still works but I think the dying battery is the cause of the strange frequent shutdown.
Yeah I always felt like since the battery was so shot out that it couldn't even survive the smallest dip in power. Like a little mini brown out scenario. It just seems so unpredictable when it is going to suddenly reboot.
