The Marine Environmental Protection Authority (MEPA) said 08 cargo containers had fallen into the sea.The public was strictly warned against touching or opening toxic or poisonous material or packages from the burning and abandoned ship reaching the shores.Debris such as metal scraps, plastics and snacks drifted from the vessel were found along the shores of Negombo in Ja-Ela, Kepumgoda, Seththappaduwa and Dungalpitiya areas. source
The most negative effect of this accident is the environmental pollution. It will take thousands of years to become this marine life back to normal state. The whole area is polluted and also the beaches have turned in to black. Money will not be able to settle the damage.
Have a nice day.. !
Thank you
Money can never fix the damages that are occurring due to this condition. The regeneration of marine ecosystems will get hundreds of times from now on.
Yes that's true. Specially the corals
I saw in news many srilankans have gone to collect those toxic burnt waste.😁 how intelligent these people.
Yes ,They don't have a idea of negative effects !
It will have a big impact🙁
Yes that's true bro

Okey. Thanks a lot. Highly appreciated !
This is one more disaster in 2021 which will bring us lots more chaos after this incident. Most sad thing is how people react to the situation while all the media, relevant authorities have made them aware of the impacts.
This will impact on both ecology of the ecosystem and the economy of the country. This situation will cause a huge damage to the lives of Marine organisms and will impact the fisheries sector , tourism sector etc . It will take a long period of time to recover from this damage.
Now the environment specialist also telling that, there may be some sort of acid rains to be expected in the upcoming days. So we Srilankans has to be careful with this situation.
