in Witness Activitieslast year (edited)

The @pennsif.witness team have deployed a hotfix to the pennsif.witness Steem Multisig Wizard.

This update concentrates on improving mobile support.

Changes

  • Responsive layout tweaked to display better on mobile devices
  • Some input validation moved out of onblur event handler

Next plans

@remlaps raised some interesting use-cases:

Would it be possible for an organization to use this tool to set up an account so that:

1.) It could still be used for posting and voting; but
2.) It would be provably impossible to ever powerdown and withdraw the STEEM.

Or else (to enable the organization to withdraw curation rewards):

1.) Account A delegates to account B
2.) Account A is provably locked so that the delegation can never be undone
3.) Account B can use the delegation to generate curation rewards, but no one can ever withdraw the STEEM from Account A, or even withdraw the delegation.

This is nearly possible already, since the Wizard changes Active and Owner authorities to be multisig, but doesn't touch Posting authority; the original holder of the Posting authority key can still post and vote.

However, as part of the input validation, the Wizard doesn't currently allow you to create a provably unspendable account where the weight of all signatories doesn't meet the account weight threshold.

We'll need to check if the blockchain supports authorities set like that, or has some validation to prevent them. We'd also need to add a "yes I really know what I'm doing and understand this will make the account completely unusable" tickbox!

EDIT: @steemchiller's SteemWorld also doesn't allow this currently:

EDIT 2: I can confirm that it is in fact possible to provably lock an account by setting an impossible weight threshold:

Many thanks for the testing and suggestions, folks! Keep them coming 😉

If the delegates are unable to withdraw the Steem Delegation they are, delegated to the other party's account. Has this ever happened here yet! I don't see a clear description that what you said can you give a little screenshot, which is delegated to account B can not pull steem From the delegate person is delegated right

Thank you, friend!
I'm @steem.history, who is steem witness.

The weight is reduced because of the lack of Voting Power. If you vote for me as a witness, you can get my little vote.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.

@remlaps and this is Rex, proving that the broken account can still post and vote!
