Running Witness Node on a 8GB/960GB VPS?
A few days ago, I spent $85 to buy a VPS from CloudCone
At first, I tried to deploy the hivemind. However, I changed my mind as the sync speed is slow. And there is no better way to download and unzip the hivemind snapshot given the disk space is only 960 GB SSD.
So, I tried to run a simple witness backup node on this. $85 is a good price for a backup node.
And after about 2 days downloading the snapshot... I realise that I downloaded the wrong snapshot, causing segfault on startup.
However, if I re-index from block 1 it seems fine. So very promising. Let's wait another 2 days to see how it goes.
I am not sure if 8GB is good enough to compile and build steemd, but using docker image (pre-built) seems fine so far.
