NOVEMBER 26 - A DAY FOR CRYING

in #history7 years ago

Can you imagine 600,000 children, women and soldiers crossing a mountain that is 2656 m high, without hiking and ski equipment and with little food, at -30 degrees Celsius ,by snow to the knee and so 1200 kilometers.? Can you imagine that every day these children die together with their parents? ...and so three months of the greatest suffering...

That's exactly what happened to my people 102 years ago in the First World War, during the withdrawal in front of the Austro-Hungarian-German and Bulgarian armies. On November 26, 1915, the Serbs with their army went to the real "hell".

Imagine three months on the snow, under icy rain and on a cold wind. Imagine such hunger for which you have to eat your clothes. No matter how hard I try, I can not imagine that.

Three months lasted this horror. And at that time, 250,000 children, women and soldiers died.It was a terrible blow that my people would never be able to overcome. Therefore, every year when this date is approaching, I am terribly sad.

These are the posters of support for the Serbs

Mark Kiting from Ireland marked this event. With his dog, he walked 2,000 kilometers, the same way that the Serbs went through Albania. In this way, he launched an action to help sick children in Serbia. Thanks to him!

Excellent @tupakamaru, upvote & resteem, waiting for the text in Serbian!

Thank you @lighteye!. it will be in Serbian too

It is unthinkable what humans can do to one another. It makes me also sad to think of the terrible suffering of those children and their parents. Such heartless acts are unthinkable.
November 26 is the day of my son's birthday. He will be 30-years-old tomorrow. I will also remember this day every year.

Unfortunately, such things are repeated and we are not learning from history. In the First World War, Serbia lost 1/3 of the population. Thank you very much @frieda !!! Greeting!

Thank you for sharing this story!
Upvoted and resteemed!

Thank you very much @nikolina. This is the most emotional moment in our history.

I wasn't aware of this story before. Thank you.

A lot of pain and great effort for the bare survival...

I'm so sorry this happened to your people.
This treatment if cruel and inhumane.
I pray this never happens again to any people.
