History and people are the same...and history shows that to be the case

When I think of some of the things that are believed today, it kind of blows my mind. We live in a time where it takes very little time to get information at our fingertips.....learning has become something that is really easy to do.
Yet we remain to a large extent the same as those of old, only with more information at our disposal.

Let's look at some of the things that have prompted these thoughts.

We have people and politicians selling ideas that are toxic and destructive to everyone but the actual politicians. The fact that 100's of millions of lives have proven that politicians are the most destructive force in history, yet we as a people tend to look to them for salvation all the time.
Socialism and communism is becoming mainstream ONCE AGAIN. Do people actually believe this is the first time that politicians have used the sales pitch of this as the savior to the struggles of humankind? That's a big NOPE!

Fact is that the same arguments are put forward by politicians all the time!! They promise, they fail and generally enrich themselves and their families/comrades.
But let's sort it out by placing all agriculture under the care of the government....don't worry we got this....we will sort it out and give a bigger piece of the pie to everyone.
15 years later people are eating out of dustbins and pets are no longer safe.

What about the flat earth discussion? Do we think the earth is round information was only available to the modern man? Oh no there we are mistaken. In fact a similar argument as we are having today with the flat earthers happened throughout history. In fact there is proof of a greek philosopher in 500BC talking about the earth as round.
Historian Jeffrey Burton Russell wrote in 1997, "A round Earth appears at least as early as the sixth century B.C. with Pythagoras, who was followed by Aristotle, Euclid, and Aristarchus, among others in observing that the earth was a sphere." By the first century A.D, "the sphericity of the earth was accepted by all educated Greeks and Romans."

Columbus and the Spaniards knew it was round....scriptures say the same by those that wrote them!

We are really mistaken if we think that the best minds are available to us today. There have throughout history been some of the all time greats many centuries before technology took over!

We have been led by our noses down the path of debt and ease. Don't worry were told, easy repayments. Only pay your first installment in a years time.
All of this sounds too goo to be true.....because it is. The banks do not even have close to the amount needed to back all their financial responsibilities to the people. And like the great depression it wont take much of a push when people will require that money, and won't be able to get it.
Financial institutions are in for the buck people, debt is a tool, and is used in grand scale to buy economies and countries....you are buying into that by continuously taking on more debt.

How about Hitler and the crimes against humankind? Seems Napoleon was a hero to Hitler, because he did similar things to what the German leader did in his quest of conquest.
Interestingly enough, both tried to attack Russia in the winter and were BOTH defeated there. Once he started failing he too couldn't keep the failures away from the public with his censorship.
Napoleon succeeded in a coup to gain power, Hitler failed in his coup attempt. He did however win the popular vote for his socialist party however. And the rest is history as they say.

Funny enough Napoleon is remembered as a hero and the start of an intellectual revival in France....many of the horrid things he did are swept away through history, or lack thereof.

we are currently in another 30 year war....the Israeli-Palestinian war is much the same. So sad!

Truth is we are often too happy to follow the terrible mistakes of our forebears. Why we do this is beyond me....although to say I often make similar mistakes of my parents.
History is a powerful teacher however. I believe that is a great reason why scriptures also can be of great value....bringing in the spiritual lessons from devout men and women trying to improve their lives, overlayed with lessons from One greater than themselves.

For me as a Christian, I firmly believe that mankind is being led by those men and women willing to listen and follow the master of all lies....and his plans and efforts follow the same patterns throughout history.
The manifestations of these patterns and methods are plain to see.

We have cities today that would stand side by side with Sodom. The same ideologies are being pushed in the same ways.
I also believe that similar fates await those that perpetuate the ideas as well.

We can do better. We can learn from our mistakes. Repentance is not part of the plan....it is the plan. It the way we learn from our mistakes and try again, doing better and better till our weaknesses become our strengths.
For to overcome ourselves is indeed the most difficult and important task of our lives!!
