The Value of Papyrus Reeds in Ancient Egypt
With the restriction of trees and wood production in ancient Egypt the Egyptians used Papyrus for many purposes. First and foremost in administration was the so-called paper production from the plant, which can be cut into thin strips laid criss Cross-, pressed over a period of time allowing the natural sap to bind the cut reeds into a type of paper. Papyrus was also used in boat making for fisherman and to produce baskets and plates, which most Egyptian households would use on a day-to-day basis.
