8 Forgotten African Kingdoms

in #history7 years ago (edited)

If you’re ready to learn a little about African kingdoms the documentaries below are brimming with information. Lost Kingdoms of Africa was a BBC production with art historian Gus Casely-Hayford. Gus takes the viewers on a journey from West Africa, to South Africa exploring the pre-colonial history of the continent.

Africa’s history stretches back into the unrecorded eons of time. Despite being the homeland of earth’s oldest people, and oldest civilizations only a fraction of Africa’s history is known. In recent years a concerted effort has been made to begin recording the history of ancient and medieval Africa. Hands down Egypt is the most famous of all of Africa’s civilizations, but this post seeks to show love to the various others. The ancient Kingdoms of Nubia and Ethiopia were once apart of Egypt themselves, and at times her rival.

Kingdom of Nubia

Kingdom of Great Zimbabwe

Kingdom of Ethiopia

Kingdom of Zulu

Good to see you included the zulu. Shaka zulu story is also adopted as a series.

I've watched this series, it was very interesting and I learned alot about african civilizations. We need more discussion and in-depth research on this topic.
