Achilles was a Greek hero, while he was young his mother Thetis wanted him to be immortal. She went in search of the powerful river Styx. She believed that any part of Achilles body that enters body that enters Styx will become invulnerable. While Thetis was dipping Achilles into Styx she held Achilles by his heel and immersed him inside the river. Unknown to her she forgot Achilles heels did not touch Styx. Hence, Achilles heel was vulnerable i.e his heel became his weakness in spite of his overall strength.
The current status of the church is similar to the story of Achilles. Christ has made great everything for His church to be invulnerable. But the church has decided to make a part of her body to be vulnerable. The church has decided to open her feet to attacks from the enemy by not fitting her leg into the shoe of evangelism. The church is fast neglecting the armour of Evangelism now than ever before.
And having strapped on your feet the Gospel of peace in preparation [ to face the enemy with firm- footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news] Ephesians 6:15 (AMP). The shoe of Evangelism is firm footed; as such it does not give room any slackness or opening in the feet. Many Christians and Churches today are becoming sophisticated than their primitive environment.. The enemy has become the master of primitive techniques using songs, dances e.t.c to take control of our primitive environment. So that we may not be outsmarted by Satan. After all, we are not unaware of his intentions 2Cor 2:11 [International standard version]
This is a clarion call to all Christian’s soldiers to end the prevailing passivity in our various assemblies and churches with a view to strengthening our Achilles heel! Our rewarding shall be exceedingly great, how beautiful are the feet of those that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things [R
