RE: How many of you still have a turntable?

in #hifi7 years ago

I have a Technics deck to play my old vinyl on when I feel the need. I had to buy a new belt for it as the old one had perished with age. I've acquired a few recent special edition vinyl releases, but they all come with a CD or download. I'm not that hung up on the sound of vinyl. Convenience matters more

Convenience is also influencing my way of listening to music most of the time. But when working at home as I am, I have decided to be a bit more attentive to the little aesthetic differences. Instead of mp3 I use FLAC files for example. On a good hifi you can really hear the difference.

The thing I almost never use is the hundreds of CDs we own. I started to put them on my computer at a certain time and once in a while I convert an album to FLAC. But is is time consuming.

I re-ripped all my CDs to FLAC a while back so I'd never have to do it again. I noticed the difference with some old rips. Disk space is not an issue
