Amidrium, also called Amydrium, is an unusual plant in the Araceae family. This climbing plant is popular with gardeners because of its large leaves and strange flowers. Amidrium is known for its big, unique leaves. The leaves can be oval, heart-shaped, or three-lobed like a guitar. The leaves feel smooth. They grow apart from each other on the stem. Some leaves have round or oval holes near the center. These holes give the plant an exotic and interesting look.

Amidrium makes large male and female flowers on separate plants. The flowers do not have petals. The male flower has four stamens. The filaments of these stamens are short and wide. The anthers are the same size or smaller than the filaments. They contain pollen. The plant's fruits are berries that hold seeds. The seeds can be shaped like half circles or hearts.

Amidrium is easy to care for. Even new gardeners can grow it. To help it grow well, there are a few things to remember.

Where you put the amidrium matters. It likes bright rooms but not direct sun. Direct sun can hurt the leaves. The best temperature for it to grow is 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

Water the plant often, but do not give it too much water. Too much water can cause the roots to rot. Use soil that drains well. Adding perlite or sand helps air flow in the soil.

When the plant is growing the most, feed it every two weeks. Use fertilizer made for leafy plants. This is usually in the spring and summer. In the fall and winter, feed it once a month or not at all.
