Brunfelsia : an exotic plant

in #herb2 days ago (edited)

Brunfelsia (lat. Brunfelsia, Brunfelsiopsis) is a tropical shrub plant that belongs to the nightshade family. It grows in places such as the Caribbean islands, in Latin American countries - Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba. Based on this, it can rightfully be called an exotic plant.

Brunfelsia is an unusually beautiful and interesting plant that will delight you with its appearance during the day and pleasantly surprise you at night with its interesting scent, comparable to the aroma of expensive perfume.

Brunfelsia is a rather unpretentious plant and can be in darkened areas (without sunlight) for a very long time, while direct sunlight has a detrimental effect on brunfelsia. Therefore, it is often placed in less illuminated places.

A darkened place on a windowsill or a far corner in the room will be enough for it. But if it is constantly cloudy outside, and the sun does not want to peek out from behind the clouds, then the plant may miss the lack of sunlight.

It is worth remembering that the plant is quite large and grows up to a meter in height (depending on the variety and type of plant). Therefore, the place where the flower will stand should be quite spacious.

Be careful - the plant is poisonous!
