Helichrysum, also called Straw flower or Helichrysum arenarium, is a plant in the Asteraceae family. It's a perennial herb. People use it in folk medicine. It's also a garden plant, often cut and used in winter flower arrangements. These arrangements are a form of art.

This plant is a type of dried flower. It has many other common names, like cat's paws and goldenrod. Even before it's cut, the flowers look dry. The stiff, scale-like petals seem to have no moisture. They keep their color and shape after cutting and storing for a long time.

Helichrysum comes from tropical and subtropical areas. In much of Russia, it grows as an annual plant in gardens. In the wild, it grows in dry, sandy, or rocky soil. It can also grow in soil with a lot of salt. Immortelle grows in fields and hills.

You can find it in pine forests and on steppe plains. It also grows in semi-deserts on dune slopes and chalky areas.

This flower lives up to its name because it is strong and easy to grow.
