Giving back to the society

in #help9 hours ago

These days there is lot of awareness on giving back to the society. I always feel like one must think about ways of giving back to the society. Giving back is not always about giving money, but there are so many ways in which one can give. What I have observed is that the richer people are more miser in giving back to the society compared to those who have little and still always willing to give. I am not generalizing it, but I have seen it with many people. Financially they crunch and time wise they do not have the time to be in service of others.

You can give services in many ways, like going to a hospital and taking care of those who have no one to look after. In every hospital there are wards for old people who are homeless and no one to look after, one can go and spend time with them. The joy you see on their face is much more than what you can get from donating money. Taking part in tree plantations, is another way of giving back to the Universe, we have been gifted with a wonderful world and the only thing we do it keep taking from it and exploiting it, so giving back in some form will be a wonderful act of kindness to our planet. One can even go to a children's orphanage and spend time there with them. I have been in this environment and I know it's hell of a world difference that one can make by doing the service in this place.

Life is not same for everyone, some are privileged and some are not, and even if you are not privileged you can do things in your own ways. The other day I saw a small girl at one of the busy bi-lanes which has no signal, and I observed that every time an old person was trying to cross the road she was there for their help, she would stop the passing vehicles with her hand, make the person cross the lane and then move away. I was getting some work done there so I had time and I observed she was doing this activity constantly. She was not wealthy, rather she was just a road-side dweller, but look at the kindness of her heart, so big and generous. I wonder if she had good resources what she would have done.

There are ample of options to give back, I have only quoted a few as examples but there are no limitations in the ways one can help. What matters is the intentions, when you have the intentions, options will automatically emerge. Giving a little of your time and resources will not make you poor. I have seen some people who never want to contribute in any ways and that's when I feel sad. A person I know, always says this, I only do not have enough, what will I give to others. And I know he is a well off person, but just has this mentality of scarcity in every thing.

There is so much we can do and yet there is so little that most of us do, being absorbed in our own-selves.

@nainaztengra, this post really resonated with me! It's so true that giving back isn't just about money; it's about intention and action. Your examples, from helping at hospitals and orphanages to simply assisting someone cross the street, are incredibly powerful and inspiring.

The contrast you draw between those with means and those who give freely despite their own circumstances is a thought-provoking point. That little girl helping the elderly cross the road is a perfect example of how kindness can transcend material wealth.

Thank you for sharing this reminder that even small acts of service can make a huge difference. What are some ways others on Steemit have found to give back to their communities? Let's share ideas and inspire each other!
